Interested to hear why the M2 when you have an RS3, for most people it's an either/or decision. What production week was it built, curious to hear how long it took to get on the boat. Mine is an end of January production and am looking at most of the same mods.

Was a bit of an impulse buy - I guess I got caught up into all the hype of the M2 being the 'best M car in years'. When the M2C was announced it was on paper even better which pushed me over the edge. In September, I called a few dealers to see what availability was (expecting a months long wait list) but to my surprise a couple of dealers had October build slots. A couple even had ones incoming within a few weeks if I wanted it in blue/orange.

I paid my deposit Sept 20. Not wanting to be that guy that called their sales rep every day for a status update, I only checked in every month. Beginning of November it was 112 and he said it was supposed to start build within a week. Beginning of December it departed on the boat Nov 27 and was scheduled to arrive Dec 26.

I used to be a die hard manual transmission guy, but as soon as formula 1 moved to paddle shifting I became enamored with the technology. I remember when the E46 M3 came out with the SMG - that became my dream car. It took me several years to be in a position to afford one but since then I've never owned another manual transmission car.

I used to regularly track cars back in the day, and even though I could heel-toe perfectly well, I just prefer an automated clutch over a manual. I guess I am one of those guys contributing to the death of the MT.

I basically just drove it to my garage and parked it. Hopefully will get more driving time if the weather clears next week.

Next up, BlackVue front/rear dashcam installation.

Congrats! Looks awesome. Prob not going to get much drive time in the next few weeks.

Are you planning to get winter tires?

Mine is on its way from Germany. I'll likely keep it in the garage until April.

Congrats on your beautiful new baby. I concur with your comments on your DCT choice. I too grew up with MT starting with my 2002/320i/325is. Now on my third M2, a M2C, they have all been DCT's. Just can't beat the seamless power delivery with DCT/turbo combination, especially when tracking. My son has MT M240i. So when I feel like polishing my heal-and-toe and double clutching, I drive his car.

To those who have flame us for not going MT, and there have been a number of them, trust you have mastered your heal-and-toe/double clutch technique.

At the end, to each his/her own. Enjoy what your have.

BlackVue dashcam installation

BlackVue DR590W front/rear dashcam & BlackVue Ultra Battery installed. I was originally going to take it to a shop and get the dashcam and power magic installed (the power magic cuts off power before car battery is depleted). But after watching a couple of install videos, it looked simple enough to DIY. Instead of the power magic, I got a BlackVue ultra battery so the dashcam is isolated from the main car battery.

I tapped into the 141 (heated seats fuse). I followed the video below in terms of how to run the wire from the front and rear units into the trunk (just flipped since his is a RHD car).

VRSF exhaust tips

I'm a little on the fence on these. I'll give it a few months to see how it looks on a cleaner car in the summer.
