It's kinda sad seeing BMW try to relate the 2002 with the M2, a car that weighs twice as much.

IF that is only the BMWP exhaust then I'll take back everything I've said about the gimmicky remote, price blah blah. I'll take it. Would probably leave it in quiet mode on the street. But at the track it'll certainly make me feel like speed racer even if my driving skills aren't up to the task.

I guess thats just the "standard" M Performance exhaust. The MP exhaust for the M2 has two modes - the track mode is not allowed on the normal street here in Germany. As the name says, it is only allowed on private "grounds" and racetracks. It is way too loud for the public road and appearance. So I expect it to be way louder than anything else that BMW has showed us in the past. That is the reason why they did the exhaust with a remote. Because it would be illegal otherwise to drive in sport + mode (if that would open the exhaust valves like "track" mode does). I dont know how that is in other countries, but track mode is forbidden here in Germany and makes the car illegal (like a F1 car is illegal on our roads) to drive.

"When it comes to the exhaust, the engineers have put their faith in tried-and-tested M Performance material. However, the system was stripped down completely for its outings in the motorcycle world championship. The reason: without silencer, catalytic converter and flap system, the BMW M2 MotoGP Safety Car can still be heard over the roar of the prototype motorcycles on their installation lap."

I'm not sure, I think it's louder than that even. I've done muffler deletes before and they've never sounded as loud as that. This seems like it's got resonator delete in the midpipe and probably secondary cat delete too.

Of course you could be right about MPE, which in that case would be awesome.

Can anyone confirm whether or not a resonator is included in the stock exhaust? It looks like a straight pipe to a muffler only, with the primary cat obviously being in the downpipe.

If the S55 rumors are true, and with a CSL, hopefully a few 100 kilo's will be removed, it'll damn sure need CCB's. So it makes sense to test them. Either that or they're testing them to replace the M235i race car.

380mm steel brakes are plenty to stop the car. Those brakes are HUGE and it's one of my favorite things about the car.

I seriously tracked a 3800lb, 425whp X1 and I put a Stoptech big brake kit on it that was only 355mm big.

The M2 is 400lbs lighter and has rotors that are 25mm bigger, and is significantly slower than my X1 was. The brakes will be awesome on this thing with good track pads.

It's not all about the size of the rotors.

Obviously, but it's a big part of it. All things equal, a bigger rotor with more mass will have more heat capacity than a smaller one. Carbons look nice, but they are expensive and fragile and 99% of high level track guys do not use them. In fact, I know a lot of people who retrofit steel brakes to cars that come with CCB.
