That’s funny. Looks like a Boston Green color on the e46 M3. Time to upgrade to AP kits?

I did a 3 day HPDE (first day was advanced open track day) and I ran with both advanced and instructors on the next 2 days. Too many hot sessions and I was really hard on my brakes. (my brand new pads confirmed that) |

Those OEM calipers are not too bad, just have them powder coated black.
That's what I would have done if not stumbling on a used ap kit..

I'll blame myself for that though. Just pushed too hard without a proper cooldown. |

Picked this up to stick on the track bike with a spare phone for lap timing etc. going to run it in the car as well so I don't have to fiddle with my main phone. Really impressed with this unit

I tend to get fluid fade about 10 min into a session with RBF600 / RSL29 and just back off at that point... I really don't want the color to change, but I'm worried it will happen anyway -- I have been lucky so far. |

All I can say is, my brakes were extremely hot. Hot enough I could barely get my valve cap off to let air out. And that was just the radiant heat from the rotors. Cool down Laps help. |

Some reference temps https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...&postcount=159
I also run RSL 29 and RBF600. I think the color change is a function of how long they are hot as opposed to how hot they get. My friend in his M4 has done 3-6 trackdays over 5 years, fading the brakes over thoose days and his calipers are still blue as ever. Mine rarely fade and ive done 7-8 trackdays in the M2C in a year and they are already tinging green. For reference we both run RSL 29s and both have the blue brakes. BTW I saw an OG m2 track experience car at silverstone and the brakes will eventually turn a nice even deep dark green. I say go for it and learn to love the green calipers

What setting yall running on your M-performance coilovers for the track and aggressive back roads? New to all this and tried searching but got tired of diving through the threads

Really slippery lap on the Ring with Fog. Once things dried up in the afternoon it was a much different experience. I posted a video of a 8:07 lap with quite some traffic early on in the Lap Time thread. I think being forced to focus on smooth inputs in the wet helped reduce lap times more once the dry line became usable.
But his was first time on wet track for me at the ring, and the very first lap of the day. The goals were: 1) Keep all 4 on track and avoid wet grass and armco 2) Figure out which parts are super slick and need to be avoided Low speed but still lots of corrections needed. The skid which surprised me was just past the apex of Kesselchen @ 7:10 ish into the video.

Just trying not make any major mistakes. Speaking of which, I went too wide into Schwedenkreutz, which I knew was a mistake before I even entered the turn. Resulted in a 100+ mph skid and a frantic recovery effort. That was a bit scary.

I can't wait to go to a real GP style track for some higher speed driving. The closest for me is Area 27, after that I guess Laguna Seca. |

I've heard great things about Area 27. I hope to go one day. Laguna is a bucket list item for sure. I'm from Michigan though, so that would have to be one hell of a road trip. GP track are fast and fun. But it's best to spend good time at lower speed tracks to learn the car, and develop the feel for what it takes to keep it tame at the limits.

They’re doing lots of improvements, including a full repave with FIA curbing, garages for rental, and they finished a new clubhouse/ cafe/ classroom building earlier this year. It’ll look like a totally different place when you’re able to get down here again. I’m interested in VIMP just to say I’ve been, and it looks like it could be fun. |
