Of course it is confirmed, cars are being produced like this as of now.
The only questions is: how easy is it to remove that?
Surely it's just another weird Belgian mandate for Europeans? It is bloody horrible. Must check with dealer if this bag of turd is stuck on to the AU spec M2cs. God I hope not.

It honestly looks like one of those 70s faux chrome wheel arch treatments that came with an exterior wood paneling option.

Maybe they are going to include louvres on the rear window as well?

Maybe it should come with a Homburg hat and box of tissues to leave on the rear parcel shelf?

What about Android Auto support? Can we expect that in MY21?

Likewise! Spotify integration is fine with IDrive but Google Maps is just so more reliable for on-the-fly adapting to traffic and I've got used to using it all the time and checking to see if my route is red/amber/green...

I doubt it's going to make the headlines but assuming the MY21 M2's come with IDrive 7.0, then it seems likely:

I thought i-Drive 7 was only to be used with the new BMW models with the screens for dashes. If this is indeed the case, then the last year of the F87 will definitely not get it. Unless for some odd reason they do away with the LCI gauges...

Well the X3M uses iDrive 7 and it was based on the prior generation. In fact, the X3M previously had iDrive 6 and it was only halfway through MY20 (or MY19) that they made the switch.

No, there has been a clear statement in regards to that. Only on iDrive 7! And never in life will the M2 get a whole new infotainment system just due to simple MY change.

People do confuse MY change and facelift a lot here.

I do not get the impression anyone expects anything in the way of significant change or, as you state it, a 'facelift' with the 21' M2C.

BMW has an established chassis with a numerous parts and options available. What will be offered as stock versus optional upgrades remains in question?

For example, will the Executive Package be standard? What, if any, M2CS standard options will be available as purchasable upgrade?

A spectrum of possibility exists, and only BMW currently knows where the 21' M2C release will fall on the spectrum.

Did you hear that?! That was my bubble popping

I'll maintain hope regardless! When I got my 228 I was blown away that it had a bluetooth connection but couldn't stream music. That was included in the "Executive Package." So now I resort to plugging in one of those streamers into the aux port.

Least I won't have to do that I suppose?

I do not know anymore than anyone else, but I do not think much in the way of 'change' is coming.

I think it will fall more in the realm of what comes standard that did not with the 20' M2C. Again, as example, the Executive Package.

In addition, perhaps, more in the way of options that are available as standard with M2CS. Many feel adaptive suspension is 'off limits,' but I am not sure why? If someone wants to pay for it, then why would BMW not let them? Perhaps, prospective M2CS owners do not want the 21' M2C to come with adaptive suspension option - but that might not be BMW's perspective? At any rate, there are, of course, numerous other potential options, such as exhaust, wheels, carbon fiber bits, etc?

All speculation . . .

I do agree with your thoughts on CS owners putting a lot of weight on the adaptive suspension. I'm on the CS train, but would give up the "limited" status if I could order a 21C with a few of the CS options. The other biggie for me is the CS interior. The CS speaks to me and my perception is that it looks substantially nicer than previous versions.

In the grand scheme of things I would only want the adaptive suspension, upgraded interior, and gold wheels. I could do without all the carbon additions.

Remember everyone each model year gives BMW the opportunity to fine-tune and change things under the hood remember just because they don't list it doesn't mean something wasn't changed or tweaked things are always changing and getting better each year.

Because that's one of the "big carrots" on the CS-- put it on the Competition and you're getting close to making the CS pointless.

At least that's my read.

I really think the CS is going to be a "sum of it's parts" car. It's going to feel different, but it won't be one item or the other that makes it happen. It won't be easy to replicate without most of the modifications present.

I think the earliest we are going to see a CS at C&C is September and maybe Oct/Nov. I wonder how many will end up in NC.

"Fender Wheel Arch Extensions". Probably a UK market feature.

I had also noticed a similar feature during the Belgian preview of the F90 M5 back in May 2017 (on display in the "discovery room"). Those were attached to the top of the fender wheel arch, but more discreet. In my brief write-up I described it as "tiny discreet mud flaps (grey/black plastic) mounted on the top part of the rear wheel wells" (see here).

During the Belgian preview of the M2 CS last September 2019 I did not see those extensions (but then again, the EURO-spec M2 CS model on display featured single zone airco alike on the M3 CS and M4 CS, while M2 CS orders specify the 'regular' dual zone airco). So, as said, it's probably market-specific for the UK (model code 1J32 = M2 CS EUR + RHD).

Name: M2_CS_RearFender.jpg
Views: 1056

Function: "Rear Fender Wheel Arch Extensions". See this F90 M5 dedicated thread. Explanations: "My Canadian spec does not have this", "Certain countries do not allow the wheel to protrude past the bodywork so this is a shortcut manufacturers use." and "ALL UK M5's have that on them."

RealOEM: see part #15 ("Protective film, wheel arch") of this F90 M5 diagram (source: here):

See also for example (aftermarket) (here) ("2PC Black Rear Fender Wheel Arch Extensions for BMW G30 5-Series & F90 M5"):

Just my $0.02.

I find it interesting that manufactures have to put that on for a tire that sticks out 1 cm (1/2 inch) where half the trucks in North Carolina have tires sticking out a foot with no mud flaps or anything.

I'm fairly certain that it's actually illegal, just cops around here don't enforce it.
