Depends on what you want from the system and how much money you want to spend - if you just want thumping bass with no overall sound improvement simply build a bass box in the trunk. But if want good quality sounds with better bass then the established thinking is all in this thread.

Which basically involves the following:
Disconnect Center Speaker.
Swap out front doors with Etons/Focal/BAVsound
Swap out rear deck with JL's
Move fader to the back 3-4 notches
Play around with Treble/Bass to your personal liking

If then you still want more bass maybe add the Bavsound Ghost Subwoofer / Bimmertech Amp

If you just want to spend money just order the complete BAVsound system or have custom install with a local sound shop.

I suggest you do Nos. 1-3 -- and disconnect the center channel speaker even before any of that -- then stop and reassess. You don't even have your car yet. There's no sense in going any farther than this until you can hear how your car sounds for yourself, and upgrade from there.

Three additional points:
- All the pigtails do is make installation easier; they're not necessary at all.
- A lot of what selmeralto did, including the Eton component/JL Audio speaker combo, was based on my advice. He's done an amazing job of making his own sound (pun intended) decisions and documenting all of it.
- Realize that the OEM underseat drivers are not subwoofers in the true sense of the word. They are low-mid drivers that stop functioning well below about 80 Hz. This has been tested by another member recently in the 2 Series forums. If you want true gut-jiggling subs, a box in the trunk with its own amplifier is likely your only option.

Great, sounds like good advise, the funny part is 4 and 5 don't cost much and it's hard for me to grab items from another country... so might as well just grab together, also thinking BAVsound GHOST UNDERSEAT SUBWOOFER UPGRADE and a Bimmertech amp, but worried about going back to dealer for routine dealer ECU flashes... so gonna start this first, thanks Viffermike...

Decided to do this first... First disconnect center speaker, then this...

1. Swap out front speakers with Etons B100W
https://www.amazon.com/Eton-10-Way-C...ilpage_o00_s00

2. Swap out rear deck speakers with JL Audio Evolution 4" Coaxial Speakers

3. Add the Technic ASD bypass harness

4. BMW weather stripping on front door

Driver side: 51-48-7-300-693 Price: $23.63
Passenger side: 51-48-7-300-694 Price: $22.96
About $14 each plus shipping

5. Ebay BMW OEM Speaker Connector Harness Pigtail

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-OEM-Spea...-/161420349903

and if not good enough, will add subwoofer and amp after...

Yes, that's the one recommended by many members on 2addict.com for the rear fill.
Etons are a pain to come by in the states, and I'm interested in swapping out the fronts because my fader is set towards the front.

Personally, I wouldn't sweat too much about the rears and rather spend more time deciding on the front drivers.

If you'd like a simple solution to add bass without deep diving into changing other components, throw in a cheap powered sub.
Speaker level input from the sub channel works just fine.
