There are different test mules running around, one being what will become the CS the other a normal LCI model.

But you may be disappointed in the tech versus what else you can buy at that price, and if that will bother you maybe save yourself the hassle.

Not being critical of your priorities, just forewarning. If you like driving over tech, the M2 will really make you happy. But you can likely find a car with much better tech and a step back in driving performance in the same price range.
I would agree with your comments. I had to take in my wife's Infiniti QX56 for service and got an Infiniti Q50 for a loaner. I felt like interiors were comparable with the nod going to Infiniti. Tech was way better in the Infiniti. (I never use the NAV in my M2 it's that bad). But oh how nice it felt to get back behind my M2 and open it up on the hills near my home. It all depends on what makes you happy.

Not correct.

Cosmetic and headlight changes are coming for both M2 LCI and M2 CS.

Look again. There are two cars in the photos with different camo and different exhaust systems. The LCI is the one with the tips that are straight, like the ones on the single turbo M2 N55 pre-LCI cars. The M2 CS has tips that are angled, like the other S55 exhaust systems that have two turbos and very different exhaust plumbing back to the angled tips.

Incorrect. Test mules with and without front mount intercooler (except if it's a 'dummy intercooler' mounted by the BMW camo team to fool us). N55 vs S55.

Do you have a source for this information? I have an M2 being delivered for May. If July 2017 is an actual production date I'm starting to wonder if I should wait the 2 extra months.

Wondering though if this LCI will come with a price hike. I remember that happening specifically to the 1 series a few years ago and it was a huge bummer.

M2 LCI (and 2er LCI) have been on the master future BMW model list for a while. It was just updated this week (on mobile - don't have the link handy but it was on the front page).

There will likely be a price hike as well, perhaps around $800-1000.

It was posted by ynguldyn and his info on future BMW models has been very accurate on the forum.

I'd prefer the LCI even with the price hike as the cost of retrofitting OLED lights would far exceed this, to say nothing of the improved resale value of a new manufacturing year as well. However my salesman says that, since there are no other customers at their garage with M2's on order, there's nothing he can do do delay my order by giving the production slot to someone else who wants their car for the summer. I don't know if slots can be bartered at BMW as opposed to local level ?

Think i'd rather have the original then the LCI. LCI is like Valentines day, its pointless.

Doubt they could lbarter an order. However, if no one else has an order from your garage, just don't take it and wait until the LCI is announced. Of course, you run the risk that your garage simply doesn't get an LCI allocation. No idea how that would work in France. My dealer here volunteered to allow the next guy in line to move ahead of me. How fun would it be to wait for the LCI, hear that it is delayed and then by the time your car is built and delivered it is November?

Headlights would not be OLED. Rather LED, but from the test mule it is not clear to me the headlights are LED's. LEDs have a characteristic horizontal bar and I don't see that from the pics.

I think you simply say you don't want the MY2017 M2 and that they should use the allocation for another customer or dealer stock. If demand is anything like it is over here I'm sure they won't have a problem moving the car.

I spoke to my sales guy today who assured me there would be no LCI on M2. I could tell he was making it up as he went along. What he did say that had validity is that if I gave up the slot I'd wait a year for another car. My current build was ordered last May and will be delivered this May. He said they are inundated with inquiries from people willing to pay above MSRP. This is the one of the largest if not the largest dealers in the Greater Toronto Area which is roughly 6 million people.

Well, I think I'd better just grin and bear it and keep my fingers crossed that it turns up late august !

He could see how dubious I was looking so he showed me a chart on the BMW website which apparently has just been shown to the dealers who went to some sort of 5 series unveiling in Spain last week. It clearly shows an LCI scheduled in july / august for the 1 and 2 series (full LED lights I think) but the M2 didn't appear on there at all. I'm not sure if this definitely means nothing's going to happen this year....
Corinne Darling,
Someone needs a hug and fortunately for you ... I am a holder. I have been on two lists since Aug of last year. #3 on one and still hoping for a summer order. The M market in the Motor City is non-existent. These dealers sell and lease boring 3-series. M4’s sit on their lots for a year. Once spring fever hits I will check again and if I don’t see any movement I will call around and find a dealer with an allocation at MSRP willing to ship the car to the PDC and I will pick it up there and drive it home to Michigan. Playing the wait and see CS or CSL game seems risky. Am I the only one who thinks $55k for a compact performance car is about as much as one should want to pay? A $60k or $70k M2 just seems ridiculous. How many $75 Alfa Romero Giulia will they sell? Not many and the $50k version only has an I4. Puke.

How many people really want a 400HP or 500HP version of a compact car? When Alfa can't sell their $75k version of the Giulia from a Fiat dealer we will know. Can you imagine taking that thing for it's first oil change and seeing it sandwiched between two $20K Fiat 500's. For the love of all things Holy!
