I wouldn’t trade up, especially after doing all FBO and suspension mods. CBF doing it all again for something that looks the same. I’d be looking for something substantially better, like a Cayman.

Well as for myself after I went ahead upgraded the little turbo and went full bolt on running e85 I wanted more. So I sold it with the intention of going the ZO6 route after I got back from my 4wk stay in Thailand. Well... Lol I was hit by a car at 40mph that demolished my left side and so no ZO6 for me.
Hence why I'm now going the M2C. Btw, come on guys this is all fun and banter don't get so up tight the M2 was great just not better than the next iteration as expected

Its a 10% increase in hp over the OG, the way you and your buddies are talking is like 50% increase on power

OG has more torque on the low revs and this type of engine can be preferable for street driving/ daily

I dont know where you live but most places have speed limits , doesnt mean you have to downgrade to Prius, but theres a sweet spot and th OG is there.

Stock sure I'll give you that but where it shines is the ability to mod which the majority of us do including myself and the OG M2 doesn't compare at all to the S55 in this regard. A simple tune like bm3 or even jb4 on the S55 turns the thing into another animal where as the N55 not so much unfortunately. it was already almost tuned to its maximum capacity with little to no headroom for mods

I’d say we are talking stock to stock here. Not everyone wants to void warranties and tune. Car and driver showed they are pretty identical to 100mph which is street driving. Interior has some changes that are personal preference and so is the exhaust sound. Again stock to stock.

Both amazing rides. I just picked up a new leftover 2018 for a great deal and I’m ecstatic. No way I would upgrade if I already had the OG. I would change cars. Like a cayman. The new gt4 for example

Well this why options are great but I'm the latter as some of us are on here obviously and we mod our cars but I think the argument isn't whether the OG is great or not we all think it is BUT it's just not on the level of the M2 competition. Don't know why that's so hard to swallow for some people

Why do you care if others agree with you? You love the M2C. Great. I love my OG. Great.

We know your opinion quite clearly

I think the only way to settle this is with an epic OG M2 vs M2C throw down.

Maybe base the competition on three areas:
1. Sound - I think we might know who wins this one...
2. Hard Parking - to throw the M2C guys a bone here and keep the competition fair
3. Hit the track!

M2 Fest at a bucket list track like COTA. Have a little friendly OG vs Comp action.

I didn't make the power comparison.

That said, you are incorrect about your engine characteristic claims.

What's wrong with that pragmatic approach?
If you value practicality and want to fully utilize the features that you paid for in a car, and if you're not buying a car for other reasons (like collector, status symbol, etc), and if the Prius fit your needs, what's wrong with buying a Prius?

For me, the Prius is way below my limits. But the M2 is just right. M2C was too much, and I didn't want to pay the extra $5K. And the M2 was available to drive off the dealer, with the color that I wanted.

I don't get your point.

You seem like your begging for attention, it aint 1987 anymore, family sedans are as fast and powerful as 'sports cars' now

Why sre u even trolling the OG section so much if its beneath your s55 so much ?? u should go to the m2c section and its constant circle j-rking

But heres some news for ya, id rather have a nice sounding car that does 0-60 in 4.1 secs, than one you cant even hear , or makes you go uhh ok... when its going wot and is 0.1 sec faster!

First off i drove the OG on the track last summer. Part of a bmw M track day. Drove M2,M4,M5,M6,X6M. (M6 was a pig) The M2 was magic.

Normally I never buy new. I was comparing used 2018 to 2019. Decided I'd probably go for 2019 for engine and i like the instruments (dislike the seats and the rear bladder and sound) but when i found this 2018 with perfect options and color and full new warranty. I negotiated hard and grabbed it.

Figured i loved how it drove. Why get something else that's even more $ and used. What if the M2C is more like the M4 which was great but not as magic 'goldilocks' to me.

Plus it had the M Drivers package which I'd never pay for but at $10k off a $65k msrp OG. It feels free.
So it was $5k to much to begin with.

Makes sense now.

Congrats.

There is nothing wrong with buying a Prius if that is what one wants; not for me but that is not the point.

For me, the Prius is way below my limits. But the M2 is just right. M2C was too much, and I didn't want to pay the extra $5K. And the M2 was available to drive off the dealer, with the color that I wanted.

The M2C was too much money or power? If the latter, you have made my point. If the former, I understand. To be more clear, if the M2C is considered by someone to be too much for the street, then the M2 is as well. Each is very capable and far from the limits for many drivers. When someone says (as they have above) they won't buy a 414HP car on because it's too much but will buy a close to 400 HP car (based on the same platform) because it is more street able, I find that comical. The M2C is just as street capable as the M2. It's the operator's choice of go pedal application which can make either car too much; not the car.

I don't get your point.

I’m genuinely surprised by this. I can certainly tell you that in the real world this isn’t the case at all. The M2C has got way more torque than the OG. Even my 11 year old could tell as a passenger. His first comment on the car was “this car is a lot faster” and what he’s referring to is the head pushing torque.
