It doesn't. There is too much play in the hinges and mounts to make the seat a solid brace, combined with the seat not even touching the side walls of the car.

How do you actually remove the seatbacks? The bottom cushions were easy to remove. I then folded down the seatbacks but couldn't find the torx screws that have been mentioned.

The holes sadly are a bit too high to sit in the seat without (or with a thinner) cushion. Without the cushion you sit quite deep almost like a normal bucket. The idea was to have a track and road insert that I could swap between them. I might try and find a Recaro as they are quite available over in Germany.
