I’d love to drive the 1M, f87, and g87 to feel the perceived weight differences. |

If you can't feel the weight it just means you don't do much performance driving. No disrespect. You guys should drive a GR86 too through the touge or on track and feel how that car is... it's a great feeling to drive a light car. Or a Lotus Exige Sport 390 or Exige Cup... it give you perspective on what a light car feels like.
Anyways back to the 1M vs M2C... yes you can absolutely feel the weight but at the same time you can also feel the track width of the M2C (a good thing as well). My 1M has Recaro PP's and rear seat delete to get to 1420kg. My M2C also have Recaro PP's but kept the rear seats. It's very like for like in terms of what's done for weight. I said this elsewhere as well on the M2C - the powertrain is just phenomenal. That S55 revs to 7500 which I can think of no other turbocharged engine that revs there. You have to jump to Mclaren's for high revving turbo engines (I've driven a 750S on track once FYI). The S55 even with its OEM DMFW still feels so revvy. It's lovely. The N54 in the 1M is not bad but when you have an S55 to compare it to it's night and day. |

I eventually expect to go Recaro PP's too. Any reason for NOT deleting your M2C's rear seats? Big part of my doing PP's will be for weight savings. Being of a similar mindset you have me curious. Thanks!

For the M2C, for me it's front seats, catless downpipe, and the stage 2 OTS MHD tune. Awesome to drive anywhere except hardcore performance driving. Performance driving yes, hardcore performance driving no (on this setup). Most annoying thing about the M2C manual is the center console gets in the way of shifting. Your elbow needs to be well in the air to shift. I want to do a center console delete so nothing hits my elbow. |

As Jack White says, Norway.
Tax used to be based on HP, displacement and weight, sort of like a luxury-/envy tax, but over the years it has gradually shifted towards CO2 and NOx. A brand new M3 is almost 160k here, and a gallon of 93 is $7.5... In other words: - It drives an electric car, or else it gets the hose again This M2 is my tiny, and very expensive, rebellion. |

Regarding shifter, I have never had a center console issue. I will not say this was because of smart planning but rather dumb luck. I got a ssk installed with a 30% reduction in throw. With shifter already sitting low and my expectation the ssk reduction would require more muscle, I asked the builder to lengthen the shifter rod for increased leverage. He could do up to one extra inch which we did. However, I did not account for was this making the alcantara shifter boot too short. Hence, I had to get a new shifter boot sewn. |

Envy tax is a nice way to put it. Tax may better here, but the envy is definitely there. ![]() |

The excuse for the CO2-/NOx -tax is, of course, global warming. I'm against this tax, but that's maybe another discussion. The old HP- and displacement tax however, was made out of pure greed and envy. "If you really want to stand out, you can, but we're gonna make you bleed for it". It's rooted in "Janteloven" i think, in english: "The law of Jante" It's prevalent in Scandinavia, and probably in a lesser degree in many other parts of Europe. Luckily it has gotten less, and less, prevalent over the last 20 years. It's one of those things that I've always liked about the US. People go thumbs up and "Hey man, nice car!", at least that's my impression. Last edited by Toad; 03-18-2025 at 12:58 PM.. |
