I daily my M2C (commute). It has about 35k on it. All versions of the M2 seem to be very reliable.

If I had to give up either the 540 or the M2, it would be difficult as I value them both for different (and some of the same, as described) reasons. The M2 is quite practical for its size, so if you don't need a full-on family car, I am sure it could be a good allrounder. The back seats are fine for anyone 6' or under.
