M240i xDrive $15K more than my M2 Comp
I did a quick price comparison for a new 240...I can't believe that it is $15K more than I paid for my M2 Comp in September 2021, admittedly with most option boxes ticked for the 240 but it is not unlike what is standard in the F87 in Australia.
Makes me wonder what the G87 will cost....I am sure the Australian Luxury car tax is alive and well. The following are government charges: GST $8,472 Luxury Car Tax $7,961 Stamp Duty $7,266 Then you have the dealer Delivery $2,500 Getting screwed on every new car in Australia...taxes alone account for $23,699 of the car price of $111,790, or 21.2% Last edited by Cadillac; 01-30-2022 at 11:33 PM.. |

Not too surprising tbh as this is launch. There's a small but price insensitive segment of the customer base who just want it and want it now.
The M235i was RRP 90k on launch in 2014. The M2 Pure was RRP 90k on launch in 2016. BMW was positioning the 2 series as a niche product commanding quite a premium over the 1er for much better styling, fewer doors but effectively the same car. M240i LCI RRP on launch in 2017? ~75k Horrible experience for customer ownership/resale though. It's one thing to add features and improvements with the update, it's another thing to basically redo your pricing structure because your product planning is in shambles. |

Just for comparisons sake, I believe the 2017 M2 had a MSRP in California of 53k. Somewhere between 52-55k as standard.
A fully loaded M240i xDrive has a sticker price of 55-57k I believe.

The market has moved if that is the case. When I went to look at purchasing a new M2 in April 2021 to replace my LCI the price was list only (had expected it based on forum feedback) but was offered a 2000km demo M340 for $100k drive away

Crazy how much the market has moved.
I'm expecting the base G87 M2 (driveaway) will be circa $125-$130k, with the Comp being just under $150k. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

Bear in mind D/A retail on the F87 M2C was actually up around $125k and most models have had 2 or more price increases since 2018 (but M2 didn’t).. it’s not a stretch to assume something north of $140k D/A is likely for the asking price. An M2 is not going to be priced less than an X3 (m40i is $130k now)…. |
