So after installing my track wheels with Hoosier r7 tires, they are ever so slightly rubbing on the struts. Enough that it wore a bit of the finish off the strut after cruising around the block.

I'm swapping the tires for a set of 265s that should clear fine, but I need to get them to the shop.

My question is, would it be safe to drive the 15 miles to my shop to have them swapped out? Can avoid highways and keep it below 50 the entire drive to keep heat down. I do not really care about the Hoosiers that are on there, they're heat cycled out anyways and will be tossing them.

Glad to hear you made it ok! I'm curious though. Is your M2 on OEM suspension? What wheel specs were you running with the old Hoosiers (which I assume were 275s)?

I'm on Ohlins and as far as I can tell, the spring ID is greater than stock and limits the amount of inner clearance I have when it comes to wheel/tire setup. I plan on running 18x10s square, but I think I'll need an effective offset of +19 after spacers and probably a decent amount of negative camber to fit 275s up front.

Running H&R sport springs and tckline camber plates.

The wheels were Apex 18x10 ET35. The tires were 275/35r18 hoosier r7s. I had 12mm spacers on the front.

The springs I gave are about stock size, but the tires sit below the springs themselves, so that would have mattered. The rubbing was on the strut body.

If I had 15mm spacers up there it certainly wouldn't have rubbed. You're probably right about on point with effective offset of +19. 15mm spacers on my setup would be about +20.

I run MPS4S 255/275 and while I don't run without spacers, the clearance was really close. I feel a lot more comfortable with 5mm spacers all around and have had no issues even on track (this is on stock 19").

Hrm. Those shouldnt even be close to the strut. I've ran 265/35r19 blizzaks for the winter in the front have had zero rubbing.

Interesting... I am running coilovers so it is lowered a bit. All I know is that I can't even fit my pinky in-between the inner side of the wheel and the strut, so I'd say maybe 5mm or so of clearance without spacers. That means for me 255 is the absolute widest I could run.

What coilovers? If they have larger bodies than stock (many do) that would account for the difference

M Perf. Didn't realize the bodies were larger, just through the springs were, but that would make sense.
