M Sport Decals for Front OEM lip?
Gang,
I'm not much for bling, bling but I really like the small tri colored decals on the front and rear of the M2C bumpers. I can't seem to find a way to purchase/order these? TIA, HAZAMT

I'm interested in the fronts but figured they could only be bought as a set...

Only found them as a set and they are laughably expensive. I would want the front only as well.

$300-400 if I remember correctly. Someone on the forum did them and I know you can purchase it from a vendor.

I was quoted $268 (that is with some discount) by my local dealer and $218 by another non-local dealer (Sun Motors). This is for the front, back, and side decals, which must be bought as a set.

Yea the $300 number sounded right. I'll wait for the Chinese knock-offs for the front set only for $50.

I made my own
Been a lurker for a bit, my first post since getting my '20 M2C 6MT in late June (had a '98 E36 M3/4 for nearly 20 years, but my long commute for a new job was killing her...)
I also saw those front decals but didn't want to order the entire kit from dealer ($330). So I made my own. - I ordered the 3 M stripes from Bimmian (https://bimmian.com/m-stripe-decals/). After lots of research, these were the only stripes big enough (2.5"); most were only 2" and would not cover the entire space in those 3 spots. I got the 48" long strips (about $46 shipped to DFW), but in hindsite, the 23" would've sufficed (and cost less). - A challenging part was trying to create my own template out of paper. Took about an hour to measure and create a shape out of printer paper, with lots of scissor snips here and there. Obviously the left and right are the reverse of one another, and the center is symmetrical (get the left half done and mirror it to the right half). - Then I taped the 3 paper templates onto the 3 stripes and cut them out. That took 2 minutes. -Next I cleaned those 3 spots on the lower lip and even a bit underneath, as the decals would wrap under a bit. - Applying the deals took the longest time. Took several attempts to apply, remove and readjust, and so on. A credit card and pin to smooth out/pop air bubbles, respectively, was absolutely necessary. Working in those tiny spots was a total PITA. (I'm not sure what the exact shape of the factory decals looks like, but were I to have had them, I suspect I'd have air bubbles just the same ) Much more difficult than applying decals across a hood... I used an Exacto to make a few minor adjustments once the decals were on the car. - In the end, I think they look great. The main Q now is: how will they hold up over time. I work from home now and don't put many miles on the car (had the car more than 1.5 months and still haven't completed the 1,200 mile break-in), so hope they last a long time. And if they get hosed after a while, I still have the cutout templates and enough extra decals stripes to make 5-6 more sets. If someone can remind me how to get pics on this forum, I'll share all that I took step-by-step. I'll also include the scan of the outlines (if they print to proper size, you all can use and also make you own for a few bucks). |

I'll be getting my wrap guy to cut them for me - most cost effective option in my opinion.

In another thread BishUK postd this info:
Exact colours are from Oracal's 951 Premium vinyl range. 031, Red 555, Glacier Blue 564, Light Navy I went and bought 12" x 12" Sample sheets of these 3 colors then took my time creating templates of the 3 slots. I bought 3 sheets of each color for a total of $19 bucks! HTH, HAZMAT

$300 for less than 20 bucks in vinyl.. I get the "m tax" but that's just insane.
You could buy the vinyl cutter and enough vinyl to make 100 of these for that price. |

I've got 18K on my decals up front. They've held up great. One has a mark in it and I'll replace all 3 soon. I have enough vinyl for several replacements. I saved my templates so I could reapply...

This doesn't look good on a street car, maybe a race car.
