While we're on the topic of the gauges, I got lucky enough to test drive one and noticed the small square with the P on it (screenshot at the bottom) had numbers on it, now I thought it was the current gear i was in but it wasn't, was that trying to tell me what gear to put my car in for efficiency or what is that for?

In manual mode it shows you what gear you are in and what gear your grandma would drive in.

That S*** is so annoying! You'll be going 40mph in 3rd, and the display is recommending 6th. WTF???

That's what I thought. I'd rather it just show my current gear. Stupid.

I believe it does show the current gear on dct cars in manual mode. That’s at least how the m235i was.

Yeah I meant with a manual transmission I know that sounds pointless but I'd rather be able to see my gears than what gear it wants me to be in LOL know if I accidentally put it into the wrong gear.

Isn't is so strange how auto manufactures refuse to give drivers of their sporty cars useful indications? Really how hard is it to add oil pressure, oil temp, boost, and the gear the engine is in? All the information is readily available in the bus but instead we get fluff like Efficient Dynamics, a combination oil/coolant gauge, a shift up gauge. I get that this is leftover stuff from the base cars but it can't cost them very much to change the LCD programming. It's so disappointing in a car in this price range to exclude this kind of information that is available in cars like the Camaro's and Mustang as the domestics seem to have a better understanding of what their buyers want.

An M car should have a dedicated oil temperature + pressure gauges like this.

For ///M, less is more.

The Porsche instruments look cluttered to me.

You can change it in iDrive. It's under... Vehicle settings.. Display Settings... Gauge Settings?

I don't have access to my car ATM, but it's in there.

Also... It would be nice if we had oil/water/etc all displayed in the vehicle status screen. Tire PSI and Temp is nice, but it could be so much more.
