M2C grind/running in

hello everyone,

i have brand new bmw m2 competition dct hockenheim silver.
I believe I will learn a lot in the forum thank you all.

I got a cylinder 1 missfire error a few km ago,I'll take m2 to the service.I don't think this is important,but annoying.

a different topic,

The car has ~236 miles. I want to do engine run in(to grind) with a long journey. I'm going to drive about 750+750 km(466+466 miles) of running-time without stop. I wonder, would it damage the engine,or shouldn't I do that?

*note: I can go with another car.

That'll be a perfect drive to get you to your break-in service. Don't use cruise control and vary the engine speed (RPM) and you'll be fine.

I don’t think your fuel tank is big enough to drive 466 miles without stopping....

I fuel up at around 250 miles if even that.

Some full heat up and cool down cycles, during the break-in miles, would be better than running it hot for the entire break-in period.

On a good tank i get close to 250 lol
If i use sport mode even sparingly, it drops significantly. The least miles ive gotten was around 140 when the gas light came on

That's nuts.

Going from 64 litre tank in the m3 to the M2c, frequent fill ups is difficult to get used to.

Wish all performance cars offered 90 liter tanks like GT3.

So far, I don’t mind gassing up before 300 miles... I get to look at it more!

And watch other people sneak a peak as they walk or drive by.

My theory... during the break-in period.

Don’t baby the car, don’t bully the car.

Lots of full warm up and full cool down cycles.

Lots of changing gears and engine RPMs and vehicle speeds.

Every 200 miles or so, use more of the RPM range and more engine load with the throttle.

At 1,000 miles, I did the run-in service, then I started using all the RPM range and fully loading the engine at will.
