I just got my car ceramic coated and my guy measured the paint before and after.

2019 M2C:
Before: 3.9mil
After: 7.8mil

3.9mil is pretty healthy relative to new car paints today. Twice as thick as Mazda paint for example which is the thinnest in the industry.

So you're saying the ceramic is the same thickness as the paint+clear by itself? So it basically doubled thickness? That is quite an increase.

I just put CQuartz on my M2C and it was a tedious project. I can totally believe it could double the thickness just based on the hours I put into a single coat, never mind two (I said f#!%k this after one coat).

I put PPF on Whole front.

But some idiot rear ended my M2C.

Got my bumper resprayed and I can tell that the bumper paint now looks more thicker/solid compared to rest of the car.

I think it's ok. My last 328i measure more than 5 mil, if I remember.

Respray is always thicker. It shouldn’t be visually different unless they went crazy and didn’t wetsand.

Yep, they did a fantastic job. Shop works on high end cars only.

Mine is 4 layers of 9H and 1 layer of Light, but yeah its basically double the thickness now. I'm guess about each layer of 9H is about 1mil or so

+1, i turned onto a road I use every day and lo, they did some patching and of course left tons of patch gravel all over so I get a nice surprise gravel wash..

drove on oppo side of road to avoid until I HAD to move back over due to oncoming traffic. why can't they clean that shit up after patching?
