a rule of thumb the more you wrap the less maintenance = more film less swirls.
I wrapped both my 16 and 20 - full car - less worries, less maintenance. |

I just DIY ceramic with ArmorShield IX from Avalon king.
Wash, Clay, Zaino ZPC polish, IPA wipe, Ceramic. Looks incredible and it was time consuming for all the steps, but simple. |

Front Lip Protection
Don't forget about front lip / lower splitter protection. SLiPLO is a Do-It-Yourself universal kit engineered to protect your paint from steep driveways, parking blocks, and more.
Check out the video below to see how it works and is installed on a BMW SLiPLO on BMW |

I have a love hate relationship with PPF.
I love that it protect the paint from small impacts. Small impacts only. I hate the seams—the more film the more seams. IMHO the film compared to years ago is too thick in an attempt to provide better impact protection. This results in possibility of having fingers appear and edges lift. To resolve this requires extra days at the shop. The film is a petroleum product and like mixes with like. Meaning that if grease get on it it may not come out. I have had an AX cone mark "stain" the film where as wax would have removed the mark from paint. On my latest car, I applied Gyeon ceramic on the wheels and body and soon glass and front clip PPF. It won't protect the paint from minor stones like PPF but the maintenance is dramatically reduced! |

I had my wheels polished and ceramic coated (CQuartz) and it didn't make a drop of difference with respect to brake dust. Oh well - good thing because my dealer replaced all four of my wheels later anyway so I didn't have to bother getting them redone.

On the question about panels changing color with protected vs unprotected, it will depend on how much the vehicle is used and exposed to both UV and polishing processes. I have a 2005 cayenne manual in black that had a partial hood treatment. Over the years it started to look like crap. I had it redone in 2016 and ~130K miles and there was a visible line in the paint where the film stopped, mostly due to changes in thickness from maintenance over the years. With a natural panel separation, you are not likely to notice, but I would never have a partial hood/fender wrap done after that. If this will be a sunny weather garage queen, the film is going to look great a decade from now and you won't likely have any paint thickness issues due to relative lack of paint correction (hopefully).

I should also add that we have a 2000 M Roadster in titanium silver. Bought new with dealer installed partial film. Garage queen with ~35k miles now. Had a full frontal wrap done in 2017 and it had none of the paint issues that the cayenne displayed.

You should go for Paint Protection on your Vehicle/Pride
There are several benefits of Ceramic Coating the vehicle:-
High Chemical Resistance Oxidation Resistance Temperature Resistance Corrosion Resistance High Gloss Finish Self-Cleaning Effect UV Resistance Protection from Bird Dropping Mild Scratch Resistance Protection from Stone Chipping Easy to Maintain Permanent super hydrophobic Surface Swirl mark protection Improve Rescale Value Ceramic clear Coating is a coating applied on the vehicle to save it from the chemical reaction and has a high gloss finish. The Ceramic Coating for cars is a liquid polymer that is applied by hand to the exterior and interior of the vehicle. Ceramic Coating is a clear coating that consists of liquid polymer when the ceramic coating is applied on the vehicle body, the polymers form a chemical bond with vehicle paint which will not wash away in cleaning or rain. |

Dropping my LBB off Monday and still internally debating the level of coverage, but feel I’m likely going to land at 100% full coverage - XPEL ultimate or suntek ultra. |

Is it safe to assume that through time, the front PPF will take a beating from all the rock chips and will start to show wear on the plastic? If so, would that then need to be replaced?

Installing / replacing the film would be a good idea to continue to protect the paint from road debris and the elements. |

Is PPF on the rear quarter panels really necessary? I had a M235i and never had any issues with that area. Is protecting this area just for people who track their cars? Or maybe it is necessary because of the wider panels on the M2? Thanks for any input.

Really necessary depends on your willingness to accept rock chips over time. The M2 has wide enough hips that even BMW acknowledged IT by delivering them with PPF over the hips. Although, it is too small to provide adequate protection. Many folks including me covered it at least up to the mid crease.

It's a must to keep car's front looking clean. I only recommend it if you plan to keep the car for a long time and only on a M car.
I got rear ended and had to get my rear bumper completely resprayed. I recommend putting the PPF on the rear bumper as well. If I had it, I wouldn't have needed the repaint.
