Airbag Recall Updates

I'm a week 17 build and didn't get on a ship till the last week of May. I called customer service and they said it wasn't showing a recall. My car got to the port in NJ on the 9th and is now showing the recall - no remedy available.

So close, yet so far.....

This is my exact same situation... week 17 build just got to Baltimore and the recall popped.

I was hoping since the recall has been going on for weeks now that they would immediately repair them at the port by this point, but considering yours has been there over a week I'm guessing that's not the case.

Yeah, I was tracking dealership inventory for in transit M2s, and noticed a few were under the recall. I guess the faulty parts extended into April/May.

I also heard from a reputable CA that all affected cars should be fixed by the end of June. Which makes business sense given 6/30 is Qtr end.

I'm picking up my car today with the airbag recall fixed and no open recalls showing on the site. It has been a long wait but today is finally the day for me!

My M2C has been at the port since May 11th. It's had Status remedy available for a week now. I talked dealership and they mentioned parts are limited and I haven't gotten a timeline from them. I'm in SoCal

Suck it nerds.

Just kidding. I got incredibly lucky that a CA responded to an online request about this car and it being stuck at the port. It’s only the second one they’ve sold.

Hmmm - Based on your information and the VIN going from 'remedy available' to 'no open recall' I bet the car's been fixed and probably headed to your dealership soon. Seems like the cars at port or PCD are getting priority, and/or more parts are coming in now.

Not to get your hopes up too high, but I wouldn't be surprised if your car showed up earlier this week. Port Hueneme is only a couple hours away from the So. Cal dealerships. Good luck!
I just got a call from my CA today saying the car's been fixed and en route to the dealership! BMW website also shows it in transit! Finally...

Congrats! I've been told mine is in transit a couple different times now only to find out it didn't actually get on a truck until yesterday. New projected date is Saturday...

Not sure if phantom7835 got his yet. He seemed to be getting the royal screw job by his dealer.
I'm here, been dealing with some other life issues presently (also the app stopped sending me notifications)

Dealership is full of buffoons, I did everything and then let them know that I handled it. Organized compensation, delivery date, just called them to tell them I had a new date and they needed to send new paperwork over.

PCD is scheduled for 6/21

Hey guys I'm New. seems I'm in the same boat as everyone else. Car was scheduled for delivery may 31st and has been at the port since then. Status was remedy available June 8th expected delivery June 16th however i don't have much faith in that prediction. The Frustration is very real at this point. Started this Process back in February.

I hear ya, but seems like parts are coming in more steadily, so I'd say you're in good shape.

I checked my VIN this morning and it showed no open recalls! Plan is to pick up tomorrow!

WOW this thread is really bumming me out. I don't mind the wait so much, it's the fact I live in the north east US and only have so many months of good weather...

I guess the upside is that I'm keeping my miles down? And I'll be spending a couple of weeks with my M235 in an unmodified state, so it'll be nice to experience the full contrast between that and the M2C... I guess?

When everyone is checking their VIN, are you all just using the emissions and safety recall lookup page on BMW USA’s website? My car is currently on the boat but when I enter the VIN it tells me invalid.

Yup!

Mine showed up as invalid until a day or two after arriving at the port.

...And then it popped the recall!

Thanks! It makes landfall tomorrow so I'll keep checking.

Is my sales associate not being honest with me? Last week he told me parts were assigned to my car already and they were VIN specific, but he did not have a ship date. When I looked on BMW website today it says remedy unavailable? Those two things don't seem to match up, and are not consistent with what others have posted here. Feeling like he just wanted to make sale and keep me hanging on.

I tried to post pics but could not from my iPhone. Seems like that was an issue before.

The MyBMW website still shows the status as "Final Assembly" so hopefully the car is fixed and it will get shipped soon.
Still no status change on my M2C. MyBMW continues to show "Final Assembly" and the status through the automated customer service says "ready for shipment." Those statuses haven't changed in weeks.

I also called BMW customer service today to talk to an actual person and they either would not or could not give me any information. I was told I have to work with my CA, end of conversation. My CA hasn't been given any information either. He didn't even know I didn't get my car at the Welt until after I got back when he called me to ask how our trip was. I talked to him today and he's out of the office but said he'll push for some answers tomorrow. To his credit, he offered to work on it today but I told him to enjoy his day off and deal with it tomorrow.

I've been understanding about this from the start but it's really turning into a shit show since the car hasn't shipped yet and I paid for it a month and a half ago. BMW has completely dropped the ball here.

What do you guys think, should I ask for some sort of compensation?

At a minimum I'm thinking the warranty on the car should start the day I receive it or get an extended warranty for free. I'm just not sure what else would be fair...

I would've asked for a loaner this entire time on top of an extended warranty, free service or something.... use the whole "this car sat for a month due to a recall so I'm questioning its reliability" argument
