BMW Connected App - no custom map routes?
Sorry if this is a newbie question but this is my 1st BMW.
I like the feature of planning a trip outside of the car and sending the trip to the navigation system with the BMW Connected app. However, it seems the mapping app on the iPhone doesn't allow customizing the route. I would prefer non-highway routes as I'm in break-in and I prefer a fun/scenic drive most of the time whenever possible. I like the way Google Maps allows dragging the route to whatever you prefer. Is there a way to save/send/upload a Google Maps route to the navigation system? I guess I might try Waze as well as at least then I could use CarPlay. |

It’s possible - you can plan waypoints and customise the route through bmw-routes.com and then from there you can import the routes through to the car using the “import journey” features in the nav.

Not that I found other than the bmw-routes option... The simplest method for navigating along a predetermined route that I have found is using OsmAnd app on my phone (https://osmand.net/). It can take GPX files as routes.
There are many ways to generate GPX files. I use Google MyMaps to design the route, export to KML, then convert that to GPX. |
