Stock Exhaust Tip Removal ***Easy***
So researched this for days. Some of the vids show claw hammers, some people smacking with rubber mallets.....on and on.
For those who have not done this: Spray the backs with WD40. Wear grippy gloves and twist and pull. Some are easier than others. They are all easy though. Took me 5 minutes tops! The clips are near the front so once you have moved the tips forward 1/2 an inch you can spray WD40 in back part (in the gap).

Maybe I'm stronger than I look!....my car is new though. When you see how they work you realise that spraying WD40 then moving the tips from side to side and up and down should allow them to just come off. The clips are not strong.

I would think that with WD40 that breaking the clips would be highly unlikely. Also you are more likely to bend them but even then you could straighten them after you have them off. There is nothing for them to catch on unless your exhaust pipe has an exceptionally bad seam weld...which I doubt exists.

I used what we call multigrip pliers. Opened to loosely sit on the pipes in front of the tips and nestled against the tip, tap with a soft hammer and they come straight off without damage.

Yup, same thing I did. Sprayed them on the inside with wd-40. Let it sit for 5-10 mins. Wiped off tips, get rid of excess wd-40 and dirt. Then wiggle back and worth a bit to get it loose. The outside tips on both sides were the easiest. They came off just by wiggling back and worth. The inner tips I wiggled a bit but wouldn’t come off as easily. I took a rubber mallet and tapped the tips in, towards the car. Then those tips were able to slide much easier by just turning the tips and pulling them outwards.

tips
I installed my Cyba tips yesterday. I sprayed the stock tips with WD-40 as above, and let them sit for a while. On the first one, I used a strap wrench to wiggle it back and forth to loosen it. Then I put the end of a stubby flathead screwdriver against the end and pounded it off. For the remaining 3, I skipped the strap wrench and just pounded them off with the screwdriver and hammer. I'd say it took me about 45 minutes to get them all off. My only regret is that I didn't have a lift!

If you are talking G05 X5 and putting on the Shadowline Exhaust Finishers you will need to remove the rear bumper. I know this because I had to get the dealership to install them on our G05. The job takes 3 to 4 hours. I think there are some aftermarket 50i type finishers on eBay that are stick on.
