Trade M2 for M240i

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Bought my limited edition M240i M Performance Edition (1 of 750 worldwide) and yes it's gorgeous. Just turned 3400 miles had non-factory paid oil change and check at 1400 miles. I'm babying it. Want your M2 Competition in trade.

Wrong section to post this. Post in classifieds. And I'm betting zero chance someone takes you up on this trade. Can't tell if this is meant as troll post. But I'm here for the ride.

No offense, but I have no idea who would have bought an M2C and would entertain this trade.

Just because BMW makes some tarted up "special edition" doesn't mean it has much aftermarket value beyond a normal M240i.

Most of us had to go through some unusual effort to finally drive an M2 Competition. Some waiting for many months and or paying a premium to get their hands on one. The 240i M Performance Edition itself (even with 0 miles) offers no compelling reason to trade to it from an M2 Competition.

The difference between the two cars is so slight that 99% of people couldn't tell the difference and a professional comparison, disregarding a specific purpose, would probably be inconclusive. I suspect that is of note in how you came to be the regretful owner of your car.

https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...8#post24522958

You've got a nice looking and more comfortable car that's only slightly different from the M2. It will be the rarer car. (only 65 in the US, I think). I predict that 15mm spacers at all 4 corners would make you giddy AF.
If I couldn't get my hands on an M2C. I'd buy your car in a heartbeat. So, there's your market right there; Find someone who's on the fence between an M240i and and M2C, and make a good pitch. Then get on the M2C waiting list like the rest of us. Good luck.

I don't think even a 18 OG M2 would go for this trade, much less M2C.

"Limited Edition" Aka, the entire M-Performance catalogue + an aluminium emblem

Sorry to have to tell you but it doesn't make the car special in any way

The closest thing to a trade with an M2 would be with a high mileage OG M2 with a minor accident

The 240i is a great vehicle. If it only came with a standard LSD and could house some slightly wider rear wheels, it would it make buying a standard M2 moot..

However, with a M2C, you get the M4 motor and better brakes, ect.. Not to mention, pound for pound, there is a $9,000 sticker price difference between the two. So there's that..

Even if the 240i is worth its price, it's still not a fair trade for a M2C.

An M2 and some cash sounds more reasonable, maybe

If I was a hard core track rat I'd be watching copart for these or the M235i. Slap some big flares on it and take everything out of the car not needed for track duty.

It would be a great track toy for 1/3 the money.

Sorry - you're going to get roasted here on so many levels and no one, absolutely NO ONE is going to take you seriously. I'd go so far as to say that I'd prefer a high mileage OG pre-LCI M2 with a minor fender bender or two over a brand new m240 decked out with MP parts. You can add a PBJ sandwich and coffee and I still wouldn't budge.

I'd delete this thread and try selling your car elsewhere... maybe start with the 2 series forums.

Not so sure about an M240i making a standard M2 moot unless we are talking about strictly a daily driver.

The M240i is considerably and I mean considerably slower around the VIR track than an M2 and I don't see tires making up a lot of that time without serious suspension and brake modifications.

I agree. In addition to the power of the M2 or especially the M2C. The M2 has the suspension components of an M4 with a shorter wheelbase. You'd have to replace the entire suspension on a M240i to get it close to the overall handling of the M2. I owned a M235i. I tried to improve the handling but I finally came to the conclusion that the only way to "fix" it was to do way too many expensive mods, then you have a rolling project. The M2 is good from day one.

You M guys talk about the other series BMW vehicles like they suspension and chassis is made out of marshmallow and the car flips over ten times over anytime it attempts to maneuver a turn..

The regular series BMWs, even the likes of 320i and 228i are very capable vehicles that can hold their own. M cars just gives you a more visceral feeling when driving, due to its lack of body insolation.

I had many basic BMW loaner cars, I even coded, adder an intake and JB4 a couple to try it out, and trust me, any regular BMW can boggie when to demands it's needed.

It's the The Ultimate Driving Machine, not The Ultimate Driving Machine IF OPT OF THE M MODEL.

We are not talking a about a hand-built, precession made of the racetrack, the M models tier up from the i40 models in the manufactures's hierarchy.

That said, I notice the folks that opt for the M model can't see beyond the badge. So no one is going to opt for a 240i over an M2. Even though the next M2 more than likely will have a variation of a B58.

Eh, I have to disagree. I have been very disappointed every time I have gotten a non-M loaner. The only non-M car I liked was the 135i.

I have an M2 Comp, about 1900 miles; it's not very special, but I did do some tasteful mods. I'd like to offer it up and add cash on my end. Please let me know; VERY interested

I've taken the regular BMWs to the "fvck your life" limits and they can hold it down, they don't give up . The 8sp transmission and DSC are responsible for this new confidence.

To each is own I guess..
