I test drove an OG M2 in 2016 before I bought one. I didn't test drive a M2C because I already owned a 17 M2. They drive pretty similarly (still in break in period for M2C)

I'm not sure, but sometimes I feel that because I look young that they fear that I may just be seeking a joy ride.

In 2011, I did an individual order of an e92 M3. Never drove one until the day I picked it up.
I was prepared to do the same again late last year for an M2C, but I happened to find one spec'd as desired and bought it without the need to order. Never drove it until I picked it up. |

I did not. there was only one 2019 in the state of Texas when I ordered my 2020, they weren't letting anyone test drive it.
they probably would have if I was serious about it, but I didn't want HS. I did drive about 2 dozen m4s though. |

I wish I had that option. I ordered without even seeing an M2 in the flesh.
Ordered in Jan 2017, took ED in Oct 2017!

As i will daily my M2C i wanted to test drive one because i wanted to be sure the suspension isn't to hard for ~20.000 miles a year.
Also i am very tall and i was not sure if i can order the sunroof. I got one directly from BMW M in Garching for a whole day (best service ever) and was convinced. The car is great but maybe doesn't suit for some people. So it's always good to test drive. |

I didn't, there weren't any to drive. I had driven two F80's (one MT and one DCT) in the past, but that was as close as I got to it. In the past 4 years or so, I've test driven pretty much everything I can afford. The only car I really loved was the F80 but I still thought it was a bit big. One of those drives (the MT) was a friend's car when he was visiting for a week, so I got a very good amount of time behind the wheel with it. That was enough to risk buying this one without driving it.
Here's the real question for those of us who didn't drive it first: Would you have bought it if you had test driven it? I think I would have, but might have been held back by how stiff the suspension is and the lack of adaptive suspension to mitigate being stuck on bad roads. The good outweighs any negatives on this car because I've had it for 7 months, but a short test drive on the less-than-stellar roads around my local dealership might have caused me to make a different decision. It's likely best that I couldn't test drive it first. |

I placed a $5,000 deposit to be placed on the waiting list for an allocation; with no test drive, based on pictures and preliminary reviews alone. This was back in August 2018. 2020MY on the ship now for delivery in a few weeks. I guess I put a lot of trust in all of the YouTube, car magazine and forum reviews, huh?

I have no doubt that it's a fine car, but not all fine cars are perfect for everyone. I just couldn't buy without having ever driven. I'm picky, tall, gotta make sure I fit and am comfortable, dynamically (e.g. not sitting in the show room). I gotta make sure it is what I expect it to be.

When I gave up my allocation spot locally to fly to Chicago last September to buy the exact car we'd planned to order, I didn't even test drive it once I was there, lol, even though they offered. I was in a hurry to get on the road south and was in/out of the dealership in less than 1 hour. For the first two hours behind the wheel I was just driving it...kinda like getting into a rental car and just going.
It was actually a cool way to become accustomed to the car. I knew it was going to have plenty of headroom (slicktop), even with a helmet on, so that part I didn't need to worry about ahead of time. As the trip went onward, I learned more and more about the car without any preconceived biases/opinions/thoughts to cloud the experience. After over 1000 miles of careful break-in, I had it at the Michelin Proving Grounds 1/2 mile skidpad in Laurens SC on day 4 to really explore the car.

I did not. I just went for it after reading some reviews.
I actually test drove a used 2017 ///M2 and then decided instead to go with the 2019 ///M2 Competition.

Nope. Went to look at an '18 M2 I was interested in, drove it. Then I drove an M4 they also had and came to the conclusion that the M2 needed the S55 and decided to wait for the Competition.
