This post is not intended to definitively answer your question but rather to provide an example of how to use the tools available to obsess EFFECTIVELY over tracking your OWN vehicle.

If you follow the breadcrumbs with sufficient passion, you may find these are recent webcam shots of the Bremerhaven Auto Export Docks. (per the date/time stamps in the frames)

The ship you see in the picture is the Faust operated by Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics.

You can tell it is the Faust based on its distinctive appearance as well as published dock schedules.

The Faust moored at Bremerhaven on Friday, 2019-05-17 at 0800 LT (UTC +2), after sailing from Charlston, SC on Sunday, 2019-05-05 20:03 LT (UTC -4).

If your car is headed to the US East Coast and has already been dispatched to, or is already at, the port, I believe there is a pretty good chance this is your boat.

I might be completely wrong, but that's the fun part of obsessively tracking your own car.

Right. I'm not wanting to receive tracking updates from Genius or the CA. What I do want is carrier information. What carrier is being used? What container? Any of the half dozen numbers or names that would in any way help me determine what boat the car is being loaded on to.

That's b/c they don't know, yet. If you read the link it takes 2 days after the ship sails before they know.

EDIT: It appears that a lot has improved since that article was written and 2016 when I tracked my M2. It still looks like they are running batch jobs (overnight updates) but it's getting much faster. For example, my M2C was loaded on 5/22 and on 5/23 BMW My Garage showed it as in transit and Customer Service had the vessel name and voyage id but the 800 number said it was still at the port.

I read that. I thought that was just referring to the BMW online tracker, which has been inaccurate for the majority of the process so far. My sales person told me that they won't have any additional information to go on or use for tracking until it arrives in the US, so my assumption seemed to make sense.

Apparently my sales associate is wrong. Or maybe he's right? It's hard to tell at this point.

So another clue that you car is moving along.

On 5/17 my car was Dispatched from AG (190) and today I was able to use my VIN to download the owners manual in the BMW Driver's Guide app and BMW Owner Manuals https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

So some other system somewhere was updated.

The Glorious Leader left Bremerhaven on 6/22 with 16 BMW M2 Competitions and should arrive in the NY/NJ VPC according to Wallenius Wilhelmsen on 6/9.

It looks like there aren't enough cars for a run to Galveston, as my car is still at the port, and has not yet been assigned to a ship.

I'm not sure how much information they have available to them, but they said at the current rate, it might be another two weeks before my car gets loaded up. According to CS, there aren't enough cars to warrant a boat to Galveston right now.

Ahh well. More time to save up some cash for all the parts that I'm going to void my warranty with.

I believe that your vessel would be on a different route, see Blue line vs. Green

https://www.2wglobal.com/globalasset...ated-11.02.png

When you view the schedules looks for one that stops and both Bremerhaven and Galveston

View Schedules, Select By Route, Select Inbound To North America From Europe, Click on the List Icon (top middle of page)

https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?min...m/ScheduleRWD/

The Independence is the next vessel that stops in Galveston on 6/20, loads in Bremerhaven on 5/29.

Thanks for this.
If I am understanding the schedules correctly, if my car were to get loaded today, it could be on the Integrity. Which stops in Bremerhaven today (the 23rd of May), and then Galveston on the 13th of June.

But you are probably correct in your guess, seeing as how CS said my car had not be assigned a carrier yet, and they are ~8 hours ahead of the US time wise. I guess I'll find out in a few days if the online status switches to `In Transit`. Else The Independance is the safe bet.

Oh, I missed that one. I would call BMW Customer Service tomorrow. I would expect it to be on that vessel.

So I'm a little bummed by your post. My car was also produced on 5/16, but I haven't seen it move beyond being assigned for carrier. Doesn't show Dispatched from Factory or At Port, and I was hoping that my timeline would resemble yours. I hope there wasn't a problem with the vehicle whereby it never made it to the Bremerhaven port after 7 days...

Just to add my scenario in here too....mine was in 'awaiting carrier assignment' for a few days. It just updated directly to 'at the port' yesterday. As some have mentioned, I'm trying to take the online tracking with a grain of salt as the updates are slow.

Now you need to call can get the booking number or bill of landing number, which BTW lists out EVERY VIN on the ship!! Seems someone didn't think that thorough.

My tracking shows In Transit.
Called customer relations 1-800-831-1117.

Was told my M2C left port yesterday 5-22-19

Is on the GLOBAL LEADER ship
She advised I look at MarineTraffic.com so I can watch ship move

Expected arrival date June 19th.

I am in Los Angeles, CA.

Being a Week 20 build, up until yesterday I would have had every reason to believe mine would be loaded onto the Integrity or the Glorious Leader. As of right now, both MyBMW and Customer Relations automated tracking report mine is at port. That leaves either the Apollon Highway or the Independence II as my next best hope.

This clearly is one of the more sobering stages of the process.

It can take a week, and the website if usually a bit behind. Cars produced after 5/1/19 should already have the updated airbag.

my car, as well as a few others were in quality check for 1-2 weeks. most likely air bag parts. they also gave me a line about m cars getting more quality checks than others, which takes longer. not sure if I believe it though.

I'm sure it's all fine. some times there are just a few hiccups in the process.

I'm in a similar boat... no pun intended

I was hoping to have been on the ship moving already but seeing as how my tracker hasn't updated to in transit while others have already I guess I wasn't part of the lucky 16...

They do not have a fix for the airbag yet so this is not true.

The fix is not present for cars that were affected and left the factory. Cars continue to be produced, and those whose cars finished after May 1st are not affected by the recall (at least the vast marjory; some that started production before May 1st and finished after May 1st may still be affected). I have one of these cars, it is not affected by the recall, and is currently on a ship.

My car is a week 20 build (originally was week 19, but got bumped) and was only in QC for less than a day. Mine updated on the tracker to at the port on 5/23, which is the current status of my order.

Anybody with a week 20 build in transit yet?

I’m hoping to make it on the Mignon, Tamerlane, or Independence II which leave Bremerhaven on the 26th, 27th, and 28th. Each of those stop at either Brunswick or Savannah where I would expect mine to be dropped off at.
