Not a lot of "install pix" were taken - but I did snap a couple to share with Studio RSR.

The install video they have is of an M4 (four doors). It's a bit different with just two doors.

RSR also doesn't expect you to put the side bolsters of the back seats or the seat belt covers back in. I wanted to keep it as "stock" as I could. I think they expect you to put in the seat delete - I'm not paying a bunch of bucks for a piece of pressboard covered in Ozite.

First thing was to cut a clearance notch so the top bolster attachment hole was accessible again. Cutting this plate where I did does absolutely NOTHING in damaging structure or strength. The tab just hangs over the lip that the seat belt attaches to and the mounting point for the down bars is the seat belt mount - you can see the hole at the back.

Then I trimmed the seat belt covers:

Stuck them back in, marked the bolsters and didn't quite take enough angle into account - both holes ended up being a tad biased outward so the fit left a small gap as seen in the pix below:

RSR wants an X cut into the carpet where the legs of the main hoop mount. They just tucked the ends up against the legs and I thought it looked a tad unfinished.

I went about it a bit differently (as usual...) and tried to make the fit "more better". My cut outs ended up being about 1/2" forward of where they needed to be but I was able to cheat it out and trim the pucks I pulled out and fit them into the gaps:

Here are the gaps at the rear cage where it goes into the bolsters:

Yes, that's a grinder slip. While cutting the clearance hole of course the cut off wheel caught and scraped the powder coating off of the bottom of the down bar. Crap happens.

At least my consistency at missing is the same - just a quarter inch.
If someone's going to take enough time to look in and state that I missed I'll just kick 'em in the shins and say "You go do it by yourself."

Still need to get the lap belt mounts figured out and installed.

Can you provide installation instructions?

Does the main hoop require drilling into the floor, or does it bolt to an existing place?

Where does the rear section connect to?

Well, I spoke with CMS the other day and they are no longer offering their M2 rollbar and RSD

Unfortunate because I think it looks like a relatively clean install, has a very practical RSD which retains fold down capability and was reasonably priced

Anyhow, I asked if they might consider making more and it seems unlikely

However, it was mentioned that they do get inquires from time to time from M2 owners and that they MIGHT reconsider producing it if there was enough interest so I guess you never know

Saw your post on RSR and was wondering if you ended up ordering from them. If so, how long did it take to receive the Cage? It says 4+ weeks on their Web-site. Do you know of any other manufacturers that make them?

How do you like the Roll Bar after install? How was RSR in answering e-mails? Two prior posters stated they would not answer e-mails. I am considering this Roll Bar but am tired of dealing with non responsive suppliers. Bar looks good in your M2. Would you buy from them again?

I would consider a brey Krause harness bar, cheaper, easily removed with no damage. If I could get away with no back seats this what I would do along with some fixed back buckets.

I had an RSR in my M4. It's well built I'd say, but there were other issues and logistics. PM for details.

Yes I did order from them without reading their reviews first

It took approx 3 month from order to ship.. They claimed their "bending machine broke" and had to be replaced causing the delay.. but getting them to reply to you after the sale was like pulling teeth. Oh forgot.. they also told me mine was "in powdercoating" once as a status update when i specifically ordered it unfinished.. I think it was just a lie because it came unfinished..

So 3 months+ if you need it finished...

Where does the vertical piece that goes behind the drivers seat to the floor bolt or weld in? Is it anchored more structurally than just through the floor pan?

I don't feel it's safe how RSR jusy has it bolt to the floor pan. Did you do any additional strengthening there or is yours just bolted to the floor?

Howdy! I wanted to share my thoughts on a recently completed half cage install project for my '18 M2. The cage, seats and harnesses were installed last week by Mitch Piper of Piper Motorsports in Leesburg, Virginia with parts supplied by OG Racing. I was very happy with the build quality and the overall service that Mitch provided for this project.

I just pulled together a short video on this project, which you can find on youtube here:

Nice job. What was the cost for the Half Cage overall? Did you have any issues with Coding-Out the seats with Air Bags and other warning lights? Have been considering this project for a while.

If you do this, you will want to called out the restraint errors. I have a video on this here:

You should budget $7-8k for the cage depending on whether you wanted to be bolted in or welded in. This includes labor as well as seats and harnesses as well as a Hans device. PM me for details.

Studio RSR cage is a POS and doesn't mount safely. Bolting through the floor pan is not safe. Regardless of reinforcement.

Where did you get that net to block things in the trunk from flying forward into the cabin? I need one! Also, that fire extinguisher mount/extinguisher. Thanks!

I welded in weld nuts from McMaster Carr. I utilized one existing hole then drilled the other 2. This is best pic I have on my phone. 3 holes per leg of the cage. All weld nuts and arp bolts. It's probably the most rock solid bolt in cage setup for an m2.

Anything that goes through the floor pan behind the front seats is junk! Cough studio cough RSR.

If you want a cage that's safe to strap your life to mount it well.
If you are all show and no go you don't need a cage.
