Close but these instructions aren’t for NH brakes. The front caliper doesn’t have the direct access to the pads. It has to be removed to access them.

They do not list it as a direct fit for the M2C but other people on here have used Hawk Performance brake pads.

I do remember reading that before but it didn't come to mind at the time. The hardware around the pad did feel a little loose.

Few days into dailying with them and they feel really good. Still have good bite and not getting any noise besides the click going from reverse to forward. Can't say I could do a fair judgment on dust just yet. Since I changed my wheels from the stock gloss black to matte bronze I don't have a good visual. All I see is the rust that came off the rotors since I wash the car every Saturday. So maybe after this Saturday when I wash them I can get a better idea looking at how dirty the wheel bucket water and my brushes get.

Also the remnant OEM brake pad material on the rotors are probably still coming off.

Going to wait for a month or so before I update my thread about them.

Front: HB828Z.760 -> Tire Rack
Rear: HB193Z.670 -> Summit Racing Racing

It looks like the instructions are only for the rear brakes... I know the front brakes you have to unbolt them to remove the pads.

Just a “warning” that BMW did use traditional 18mm hex head bolts but those were replaced by an external/inverted torx (don’t know the right name) in late 2017 (my 2/18 build still has the 18mm bolts)

I don’t know what size the torx are - can’t find it anywhere. I did order a couple as replacements and will post the size after I get them if nobody beats me to it.

For reference - it’s the same bolts for M2 and M2C

Did you change to these ceramic pads? How are they performing?

Yes I did... they are performing very well. Not as much brake dust as the factory pads. I have noticed they are not as sensitive as the factory pads. I remember I would just touch the brakes and they would jerk. Don't know if I'm expressing myself correctly... Anyhow the ceramic pads feel more like normal brake pads, if you want to stop on a dime they will do the job...
What I recommend if anybody decides to go with the Hawk ceramic brake pads, on the front and rear transfer over the back pad cover plates that come on the factory pads. Some people didn't install the rear plates and they get a clunk sound when rolling forward or back. I will say the rear factory pads are glued on but a thin putty knife will do the job of removing them.

My 2021 M2C with 2NH brakes has the 18mm hex head bolts. So it seems they switched back at some point, or use them interchangeably.

Does anyone know the part number for the 18mm hex bolts? Realoem only shows the inverted torx ones (34106864424) and I'd rather not buy a special tool to torque those if I don't have to.

Thanks. That does look correct but I'm unable to find it for sale anywhere. realoem lists the hex and e-torx version as exchangable. Furthermore, searching for 34116772117 keeps giving me results for 34106864424 on sites like ECS tuning. I might have to just buy the etorx bolts and a tool to torque them, thanks BMW!

I can at least tell you it's an E-18 socket that you'll need

I picked up an inexpensive set of reverse torx sockets on Amazon. They're surprisingly handy, considering the number of them that BMW puts in odd places.

DIY guides seem 50/50 on whether the caliper bolts are truly one time use and need to be replaced or if they can be reused. What do people here think?

I've been reusing it. It'd be pretty stupid for BMW to design a caliper that needs new bolt everytime changing pads.

I ended up reusing them. When I removed them, they seemed very durable and certainly not single use.

Curious to hear some longer term reviews on these pads, now that more time has passed. The squealing and brake dust from my OEM pads are out of control. I've only got 10k miles on them but looking to change to something that's hopefully less noisy with less dust, without losing too much of that initial bite.

My use is mostly weekend warrior with 1-2 annual track days.
