I really do not know. But it easy to verify using a regular SPL meter. I have never seen any numbers for the stock exhaust.

Bypass is the best.

Too late for me now as i already installed the bypass and dont want to take it off to compare. But I do know that there was a Significant amount of ASD sponsored noise that was removed when I bypassed it. Not so much in comfort mode although the difference was noticeable there too, but in Sport and Sport+ modes, it was really night and day different with the stock exhaust.

I had mine coded out before, but since there was some reprogramming down for a recall, the ASD is back on now and it does sound awful. It's just adding more drone.

I just coded the ASD off today and I'm not sure if I like it. The down shifts are so quiet and I'm so used to hearing it rev. I drive with windows down like 95% of the time so cabin noise isn't an issue for me plus I have my music on a decent volume. I only have fabspeed downpipe but planning on getting aftermarket exhaust leaning towards FI more vs remus.

Hey all,

I just ordered the Technic harness a few days ago. However, I did not get any sort of email confirmation of my order. The money has been taken from my account. Is that normal for these guys? Should I just expect the harness to show up randomly one day?

I seem to recall that back when I ordered, some notifications were lacking; I cant recall if it was receipt of order, or shipping notification, but just hang in there. If they processed the money, your order is in house and youll receive the harness.

I have a June 2016 built 2017MY M2 DCT. Should I be use the harness or coding it out? I don't want to lose audio quality or have strange static noises. Just want ASD off.

I went with the bypass. No problems after 10 months.

Either will work. Just depends on what you are most comfortable with.

The main difference is that a software update wipes out your programming while bypass is permanent.

I can only provide first hand commentary on the bypass harness. Works perfect, easy install, no issues that I can detect and it has not caused me any problems with service.

Only issues I have ever heard about relate to improperly installing the harness. From what I can tell, correcting the install resolves this.

Many have coded ASD off with BimmerCode, esys and other tools. I personally know one person that coded off and he has been pleased with the results. This matches what I have read on the forum.

A code update from BMW will probably mean you will have to recode ASD off again if you elect to do it via software.

Converted a PNPTechnic harness so I can turn ASD on and off via a switch or via bluetooth from my phone.

A lot of cables to fiddle around with...

Just installed the bypass harness on a MY16 pre-LCI, and wow. What a difference! Only issue I have now is that it's TOO quiet for my tastes...luckily, I have a HJS 300 cell downpipe waiting to remedy the lack of noise with an au natural soundtrack!
