J Hall: Care to share what state you are in? There are around 340 BMW dealers in the US. So the most one could get is probably 2. This would assume that some smaller dealers would get zero allocations. I can't wait for this whole CS allocation process to be completed so people know where they stand.

NC. My dealership is a M Dealer which means they get one but they traded a M5 Jahre Edition to a dealer in TX for their CS allocation.

jhall1957 Keep in mind as of yet no US dealers have allocations. See the attached picture taken today from BMW's DCS system showing that the M2CS is not yet in the system (only model code 202S which is the M2 Comp).

As of today if a US dealer is saying that they have an allocation it is only that they are assuming that they will have one. FWIW in 2011 our dealership received 3 out of 740 US 1M's. We received 1 M4 GTS. If the US allocation for the M2CS is between 500-1000 cars I would suspect we will get 2 or 3. While there are certainly political movings in between regions and markets within BMWNA's dispersement of allocations the general rule is that volume of M cars sold directly correlates to M car allocation.

Our 2019 M Retail Volume:
M2: 13
M3: 7
M4: 8
M5: 10
M6: 0
M8: 1
X6M: 5
Total: 44

If you were to ask your dealer how many M cars they retailed in 2019 that could give you a gauge on possible M2CS allocation.

LOL if you think the C8 has an overheating problem, the 2015/16 C7 Z06s would go into limp mode when at a track over 60 degrees out. You could even overheat the thing on the street. The supercharger was too small and the car wouldn't get enough air. The worst was the A8 tranny that overheated as well. It was such a mess. This was fixed on the 17+ cars, supposedly. Take a look at this amazing 273 page thread https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...merge-273.html

Anyway, that's quite the dilemma. I like the CS as it is new, limited, will most likely hold it's value much better.
But the Z06 is a freaking monster. I would test drive the Z06. I've got a feeling you're going to take that thing home after the drive. Also, get a better deal than $64K please.

The latest is that the US was only getting 350 - 400 M2 CS units down from the initial projection of 500.

Another option for you is the C8 Z06 which may come out next year.

Let us know when you see the CS in your Dealerspeed database. I suspect it won't be until July. I can't see this waiting for allocations going beyond the 3rd quarter. One of the CS press releases last year did mention a launch of the 2nd half of the year so July would qualify.

Great, GM said it right in front of the Dealer Rep from BMW. I know nothing is guaranteed but I feel pretty confident.

None available and honestly, I'd rather not buy a "all new" car the first year.

Yes, saw that. While I don't have any facts to back this up I am suspecting that ROW allocation is going to determine what is "left over" which would then become the US allocation. This would make sense since we know that the North American market cars are (were) scheduled to be produced in the latter half of the window. medphysdave has done a great job of keeping track or ROW allocations:

Wow, that's quite a cut. Wonder if it's due to production or sales. My guess is that all they sold and they need to close the production window to keep on schedule.

Right on, being #1 on the list (provided you trust the dealership on this) is the best place to be. 350 or 1000 cars, they'll at least get one!

He's a good friend and I've bought dozens of BMWs from him.

I was curious after you ran down how many M cars your dealership sold last year to know how the dealership I deal with compares. Not sure what they sold but they currently have in stock 17 M cars. I would bet they sell at least 50 annually, wouldn't you?

Current situations might make that misleading, for example we have 47 M cars currently in stock with the Covid impact. Market seasonality will have an impact as well. I think the easiest gauge would be to ask 1. How many M cars did they retail in 2019? 2. How many 1M's did they get back in 2011 and 3, how many M4 GTS did they get? Knowing those I think I would feel confident in making some assumptions.

For the same money, neither the CS (still not a sports car) or the Z06. For the money I'd have a 911 of some sort, regardless of absolute performance numbers.

I love this post. We finally tumbled to the usual conclusion and OP already has a GT3. Gotta get a p-car as soon as buying options are above M2 money. Variety is the spice of life. "Lesser" cars can be fun and rewarding too.

I still say get the Z06 and jump on the wait list for the CS. You'll know but then if you want to keep the Z or move on. With one or both.

Let passion decide.

If you want a new 911, it will be more money than the CS. A new 911 Carrera S with reasonable options would be about $140k, which is greatly more than a CS. A CS without CCBS would be high $80k (probably $88k).

I would not buy a new 911 at all. My post clearly, in english, says "for the same money" meaning, with the same number of dollars.

Stopping to read would help you through life.
