I have a nominee for sleeper: the Toyota Sienna!
LOL for real, those new Sienna's haul ass.

Resurrecting an old thread, but here's my attempt at making an m2 competition look more low profile.

Not sure I'd consider it a sleeper, but my intent was to make it less obvious that I was driving a 400hp M car.

Either way, I'm sure an enthusiast could figure it out.

This is my first BMW and I have to say I agree with the OP. Yes, it is very nice looking and any car enthusiast will know what it is. But it is not obnoxious and to the average person it is nothing special. Just another BMW with a flashy color for some shmuck to drive around trying to garner attention to feed their insecurities. As stated I am not a long term BMW enthusiast and I am hard pressed to tell a M4 from other BMWs driving down the road, so I can see his point.

I'm not a fan of the badge white out myself, but it certainly flows with the thesis of the modifications.

All depends on where you live. In an area with not many BMWs, you'll get attention, in others only the enthusiasts will recognize it. Once in a while I'll get people at stop lights tell me how nice the color is, or how quick it is (that would be any car I drive), or how nice it looks. Other times I'll see the beast catch peoples eyes as I roll out of a traffic light, kind of like "oh, what is that?" look. So it certainly has a unique presence that is noticeable. On the other hand, when I am with my buddy who has a Huracan, no one even notices my M2...its just a lowly poor mans coupe...:-)

It's hard to be discreet with Sunset Orange. At a church BBQ drive thru pickup, both guys commented on the color (it was a sunny day) and asked what model (they couldn't see the badge.

Strangely I seldom encounter folks wanting to roll race me on the interstate But soccer moms in vans at a stop light is a different story. So they can jump ahead and change lanes. Most don't realized how quick it can be.

I don't think it is a sleeper. Coming from an M235i and having owned a 550i (actual sleeper)I have repeatedly noticed guys in cars like G37s waiting until I pull away from a light before they let off the brake, and dudes with giant mufflers on civics seem to lose their minds when they see my car.

This car has too much presence to be a sleeper, and the moment you actually make it sound like it looks, just forget it.

For real, people are kidding themselves if they believe that the M2/M2C doesn't make its presence known; that's kind of the point..

You want a sleeper, get a 240i add a piggyback.. That will blast you into an oblivion and not make a peep..

In the world of high performance cars it's not a sleeper as there is too much hype and comparison of the M2C to others in its class. In the world of base dedans and coupes where people may be unfamiliar with the M2C, it surely is a sleeper. I will say regardless of what BMW we drive most non-performance oriented drivers expect any BMW to be fast and exciting given the sales pitch of ultimate driving machine.

I imagine most M cars, new or classic, will just be "some BMW" to most people, lol.
That is my experience. My HS appears almost invisible. Does not turn heads at all. Just another BMW....whatever!

Definitely depends on the color and your environment. AW, HS or BSM in a big metro - probably a sleeper.

In my fairly rural town, my SO car turns heads. I'd normally prefer a bit of a sleeper but the car turns my head every time I get out so I just can't see myself trading it in.

It's kinda hard not to notice quad tail pipes, big fat arches, hips, busy wheels, fat tires, sick lights, and overall bulky/athletic physique.

Even with a "sleeper" color like HS, I still get a lot more attention than I'd want.

Those things jump out at you because you are a car person.

The average Joe just sees a shiny BMW.

Hate to say I told ya, but...

"The others were no less honed, representing every facet of performance, from affordable gems like the Mazda Miata RF Club and the Hyundai, to serious hardware like the sleeper BMW M2 Competition, the bristling Lexus RC F Track, and the exotic, focused Lotus Evora GT."

In Southern California this car gets almost no attention. Hardly anyone looks twice at it, not even other M drivers. There’s just too many $100K+ cars rolling around for a little $60K car to get noticed. I was actually a bit surprised by the lack of attention because there’s so many design aspects that make it look special, but as others have said it’s special in ways that only enthusiasts care about.

Kind of felt that way as I was rolling down Woodward Ave here in Detroit; too many loud Camaros and Corvettes stealing the attention. Thought I would be getting a lot more attention in a Sunset Orange M2, but I guess I was wrong...

Just means the cops are less interested too which is a good thing!

I'm waiting on a HS M2C, currently "In transit", and in the process of selling my 2012 black-on-black Dodge Charger SRT8. My SRT has a truly menacing look-when I pull up on another driver's tail, they notice immediately and move to the side, even pulling over as soon as possible on country roads. I don't expect that from the more sophisticated looking M2C.

I might be able to concede that the M2 has an aggressive look from the front, and the bulging fenders, giant calipers and drilled disks portend something not to be underestimated.

But, if a generous but cautious mom was having to decide whether her teenager would get a Camaro SS 1LE, a Mustang, GT350 or a M2C and price wasn't the deciding factor. It seems to me like a no brainer. The spoiled little F**k is getting an M2C.

Maybe it's only an obvious choice from my perspective but from that perspective the M2C just doesn't look as menacing compared to similarly powered alternatives. That's not a criticism, it's a compliment.

As for the exhaust, in efficiency mode it's quiet as a kitten, even if you rev it out, in efficiency mode anyone with their windows closed might not even notice you're giving it the beans.

Pretend you're a cop and you see this happening. Who gets the ticket?
