Maybe it's about the mirrors, arquitecto. There is something "superior" about the original M235i/M2 mirrors, definitely...

«We asked Al-Attar about some of the more controversial styling cues of the M2, as well, like the controversial issue with the lack of M mirrors. The M2 mirrors are pulled straight from the M235i while fans wanted the same mirrors from its bigger M brothers.
Al-Attar says that the team noticed during aerodynamics testing that the M mirrors actually fared worse than the M235i’s on the M2. This is likely due to the higher body of the M2 over the M3 or M4. So the M235i mirrors stayed because they offered superior aerodynamics.
The other reason for the lack of M mirrors is the need to differentiate between the M2 and the M4. “What we tried to do with the car is to keep a respectable distance from the M4; the car is very sporty, very fun to drive, but we wanted to keep the distance in positioning the car in the market,” Al-Attar mentioned."»

Boy, they're really trying to milk the shit out of the M2 model I see. What's next? M2 CSL-GTR? How about a special edition? A limited run of 200 cars world wide with the E46 M3 CSL chassis with an M2 shell on it. They can call it the ME246 CSL.

I don't see any F8X getting the S58 before the G80/82....

But it will be exciting to watch.

Can you imagine the Bimmerpost meltdown if you're right?

Hell, they could save 20 pounds by just chopping the bottom of the udder, er, muffler off.

Isn't the G80 launching early 2020? If so, that's prior to this CS/CSL.

Spoiler looks very similar to the ac Schnitzer spoiler

Or a little bit like the PSM v2 spoiler which is more rounded instead of sharp in the corners

I think that's the guess/estimate, but wouldn't this car (M2 CS/L) likely be a late 2019 release, as a 2020 model?

They've already made all the CF/M performance parts...I wouldn't imagine there would be a ton of testing to complete...

I am actually hoping this is a CS and not a CSL - that would keep the price more reasonable, and they might make a few more too.

This will be the last DCT-equipped car from BMW too (I think, right?) - so very interested in how this shapes up.

I want nothing to do with the ZF slush headed our collective ways in the future...

The CSL has a mid-2020 launch as MY 2021, per inside sources. This same source mentioned a US only M2 Racing that may debut in early 2020.

I agree. I guess I'm just cynical about BMW actually offering a balls to the walls CSL. If I were a betting man, I'd say this car will have a CF roof, M3CS style hood, optional parts-bin carbon ceramic brakes, slightly aggressive front lip, and slightly tuned engine. Then they'll take out the armrests on the interior like in the M3CS to feel hardcore, sacrificing comfort to save 2 pounds (OK, maybe that's too cynical lol). Then the reviews will say it's a great car, but that you'll be spending an extra 25k to shave 0.3 seconds off your lap time and have less comfort for daily driving and BMW will sell every one they make.

Definitely more aggressive looking. This would be the car that I really want. Would like confirmation if this is the CS or CSL model.

To be added: "the lightweight door pull loops".
