M2C Purchasing Advice

Hey all! I'm looking to buy my first M2C. There aren't too many for sale in my area but I did find one for a decent price but it has been in an accident. I was wondering if you guys think I should avoid this or maybe get the car PPI'ed?

Also is there anything I should particularly take note of when checking out the vehicle?

I've attached the for sale ad below there. Thanks!

Personally I'd not waste the time and avoid entirely, solely because of the reported damage. The current price isn't discounted enough to make it worth the risk. Wait for a better condition M2C; fewer headaches all around and you will have far less trouble selling if/when the time comes.

If you insist on looking though, for sure get a PPI and try to determine the extent of the damage/repairs completed. Don't get emotionally attached, and be ready to bail if the PPI doesn't meet your expectations.

Personally, I'd pass. A few more $k will get you a clean title one and peace of mind.

Bad price if it has reported damage. You can do better. Pass OP.

Hard pass. Moderate damage and the M2C didn’t have the 1,200 breakin service done. Missing the service is enough for me to pass even with zero damage.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'm glad I posted here. Should I be expecting to pay around 65k for a 2020 M2C with about 20k ish miles?

Glad to see you are passing on this one. Personally, I’d wait a few months and I’d bet you can get a good deal.

Thanks for all the lead boys! I'll look into them.

On another note, I know that the M2 got a facelift in 2018 but between 2019 and 2020 are there any notable differences beside being able to tune the car?

I read somewhere that apple carplay isn't free unless if you have the 2020? Is this correct?

The taillights are a tiny bit different between '19 and '20 I think, but like..not really noticeably. And the problems with the taillights effect both years so *shrug*

Apple carplay was definitely free on my '20. Can't answer about the '19 model.

The jump to Competition in 2019 was much more than trim. It's a different animal with an upgraded differential, seats, and powerplant — and brakes if North American market. The OG is better suited for pure street driving, while the 2019+ Comp is more high strung and suited for light track use.

Ahh yeah I've run into a couple of threads that talk about the gal light problem. Seems like it sometimes goes away by itself or you have to replace the tailights to fix it.

Good to know about the apple car play. Definitely a must for me.

Oh yeah of course, the switch to the m3/m4 motor and upgraded brakes, etc. I'm definitely in the market for the competition

Besides the high mileage it seems to check out. Of course you are paying for a bunch of stuff that you may or may not want (all the carbon bits, 763M wheels, alcantara steering wheel, decals, etc.). I personally think in all it looks a bit boy-racer, but of course it is all reversible.

GL!
