Here's an inexpensive cargo net that *works*.....
The cargo net that BMW lists for the 2 Series (51-47-9-410-838) does NOT work on the M2C. It's square, and due to the offset tiedown points in the trunk, you need one that looks more like an inverted triangle with the point cut off.
I picked this one up on Amazon for $15. It's a *perfect* fit-- it's identical in build quality to the BMW version, but the correct shape. It works great-- especially since "Honey, can you go get a few things at the grocery store for me?" tends to turn into "Sure..... oh, look-- twisty roads, I'll be back in two hours!" http://amazon.com/gp/product/B00TD3U...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Oh-- the 2 Series mat in the picture (51-47-2-357-214)? It's a *perfect* fit for the M2C. |

Why is this better than the one that comes with our M2Cs? Curious

Mine looks great installed. Not sure why it needs to be a perfect square? I don't think the factory one was supposed to be a perfect square anyway. Also, I clicked on the Amazon link and it said the product does NOT fit our cars, lol. |

1. I wanted the cargo mat. The stock net will not work with the mat. 2. Whenever I tried to put something under the stock net, I almost always ended up lifting up the panel that it tied down to. This just works better in my opinion. And as it's slightly above the trunk deck, I find that groceries/packages fit much better. |

Ant it's not that it should be a perfect square. The 2 Series net I tried originally *was* square-- so it was loose at the bottom and not all that effective in holding anything down (which is sort of the point of a cargo net). The Amazon one works MUCH better in that regard-- proper bungee tension all the way around. |

[QUOTE=JL1002;26164105]Hmm, good point. I'll try that although I suspect handles will just fly off the hooks at some point

[QUOTE=BigKutta;26164259]I thought that too, but when i've used them, my groceries have still been stuck to the hooks when i got home, despite there not really being any tension on them to hold them in place.

Yeah my stock net broke on me pretty easy.
Tried to get it under warranty and they said "Fat chance buddy" lol. I'm going with the whole setup you got, it looks really good👍🏼 Thanks for the r&d |

I used to use the cargo net a lot, but moved to getting a InstaCrate in the trunk.
You can get them at Costco for about $7, are collapsable and they hold bulky things much better. |

When I went to take delivery of the car, the person from the dealership tried to hook up the net and couldn't get it to reach all four corners.
I sort of brushed it off because in my mind i'm like "when am I ever going to use the cargo net? I hate watermelon" and then never really thought of it again. Now i'm very curious to go see if I can actually get it all connected. The net definitely looked too small, but it is elastic i guess. |
