How do I post pictures here?
In your opinion did you think that the slip angle of sport + (M dynamic) was too much and made you crash because you could not control the car in time? In theory when the slip goes too far in sport + the stability control will also intervene... Could sport/comfort have saved this crash, you think?
Probably not. The laws of physics are the law of physics. There's a point where inertia Will overcome any stability control with any vehicle and manufacturer.

Sorry to read about that ...
On French M forum, there are interesting comments about the M2 turbo lag in low RPM...a bit unpredictable and easy to lose grip, so this plus tired Conti ... bam!

Gutted for your loss

I have had Michelin Pilot Alpin Winter tyres on mine since the winter and they haven't faltered, the extra tread depth has been excellent for eliminating aquaplaning.

I've only driven in sport+ a few times. It's a little too much for me, and I prefer sport mode. I've came out of some curves kinda fast a few times and the traction light came on briefly. I've noticed in the M2 you have to be a little more precise when exciting a corner compared to my AWD cars. The Active M differential is pretty good but you still have to be careful.

I guess that's the fun of it, being able to control & balance the car. My local BMW CCA has some car control driving sessions and I plan to attend some in the future.

That's absurd. The N55 has very little turbo lag...my old 135is (with N55) felt N/A compared to the 1M (N54). I've driven the M2 a few times now and felt NO significant lag at all. People who crash make up the worst explanations lol...anything to blame anything but themselves!

The biggest problems are:
A) people thinking they're Clarkson or Harris by turning off traction control
2) not being familiar with the car but pretending they're a top driver.

The actual problem here is bald tires, even the best crash on tires past their wear life.

Well you are right about my own driving mistake but I feel a bit offended there... buy one M2, drive at least several months for 10k km in mountain passes then make a judgement on what is the car/tires/grip ... I was in sport + that is not all traction off mode ... still I was f... surprised by the reaction and slip, and no I don’t try to slide the car like Harris🤪
Just to warn turbo car like M2 + tires used but still not done is very tricky
Now for sure Hamilton or Loeb would have reacted faster and keep the car on road which I did not!
Too bad for me and hopefully my thread warns other happy M owners for their own safety

Having driven a 1M (which is a significantly more twitchy and crazy car) on ridiculously bald tires many times I can promise you that it's still the drivers fault if something happens. A big part of driving is understanding what is happening with the car. What is the status of the engine, brakes, gears, clutch, suspension, tires....it's all a part of what makes a good driver! You act like a giant sensor aware of the car.

I am not saying I'm a greater driver I am not. I am still learning and improving. If I have issues driving on bald tires, low inflated tires, Rain, snow, whatever I would say it's my fault not the car's. Yes bald tires with no traction control can cause issues but whose fault is that? The driver!

I sure hoped Sport+ would ultimately save my ass... IT DIDN'T.

This week, an BMW instructor told us (warned us) not to put Sport+ on (track), we should use comfort (rain), Sport or MDM instead.

On track (Spa), in very very very wet conditions with Continentals (new) in comfort mode, the car was amazing!!!
Never thought I would reach such speeds in this kind of weather conditions (pouring rain).

You wreck it, your fault plain and simple. Quit making up excuses. Drive past your limits, you wreck. Simple as that. Stop the madness and accept the fact that you -ucked up.

You walked away from the accident in pristine condition.

That's what matters in the end.

I see that you added some velcro or something to the underside of the bumper, and that's where you were storing your owner's manual folio. I give you points for finding a way to reclaim some of your interior storage space, but it must have looked sorta funny rolling down the highway with your owner's folio hanging from the bumper, no?

Glad you walked away, that's what counts.

That probably was my new LBB indeed...

It took them 3 days to find me a new one. M2 was out of allocation by then (production ended 2 weeks later).
No color and options choice. Went from MT to DCT and MG to LBB. Still have to get used to that new color . Totally different car in every way!
