The press release says they air outlets, so they not fake.
There was some "fake news" in the initial information released on the X3's fender vent styling, so I was curious if this is the same situation. The M Performance fenders would seemingly have to include new fender liners if the vents were actually functional. My money is on that they're as fake as the steel-fender vent styling.

Inquiring minds want to know!

No comment on that subject, but I think it will arrive first half of next year.

Very cool thanks! Looks like they do come with new fender liners.... Either that or a template to guide the installer to cut out the openings in the OE liners. The aerodynamic functionality, along with the lower weight does make them worth consideration. I'd paint them completely to hide their hideous (imo) look though. Might actually look cool completely painted.

Maybe, but if the weight difference between the 437M and 763M is 3.2kg and between the 788M and 763M is 3.5kg than that would mean the 788M wheels are 0.3kg heavier than the stock 437M wheels. Would appreciate it if you could get further clarification on this if Bjoern is still around. Thanks
Follow press release...437M and 763M is 3.2kg. Discard the other number. 788M is lighter than both 763M and 437M. Exact weight difference between 437M and 788M unknown at this stage.

Great news, black finish 788m sounds like the ticket.

BL: Yes, the particulate filter is the reason the muffler is so large at the back. The U.S. market will get an exhaust WITHOUT the filter. The filter is ONLY for Europe. The M Performance exhaust will also get the OPF filter installed. The U.S. market will NOT get the filter on the titanium M Performance exhaust.
• Can or will all of the M performance parts be installed by the dealer? Cough, including the roof, cough...
Huge news for the US. Particulate filters are very large, heavy, and unnecessarily complex.

BL: All aftersales parts are being installed at the dealer. Every single part!!!! The dealers will be handed extensive manuals on how to deal with it. The installation will be done as we have seen before in videos online. The window screens are removed, the welds are being drilled and the new roof is put into place. The dealer will have to do it. If they don't want to do it, it means you should go to another dealer who does want to do it. For the U.S. market it means that all parts are either fitted at the port on new cars, or at the dealer when you have a 2nd hand M2C, M2 (LCI), M240i, or a normal 2-Series Coupe.
Confirmed port install for US.
Do other manufacturers do this? This seems like an immense strain on dealers and a highly specialized installation.

Wait, you're still there? Can we ask more questions?
I really like the carbon roof and hood, but have so much trepidation about the fit and finish from a dealership. Haven't had the best experience with dealerships in the past. They can't keep oil smudges off of steering wheel, door handles and my head liner!!! the last made me quite angry!
They kick the inside of the door when getting in and out. One time I left car overnight for repair, they parked under a tree in early summer. i had to threaten litigation for them to remove all the TREE SAP(it was so much sap). they just dont seem to care about the individual cars.
plus, if the paint match isn't perfect; hood-car, can we deny the purchase and make them try again?
I dont expect anyone to have these answers...just throwing it out there
If you order new (in the US), this is a port install. They do a ton of cosmetic work at port, it'll be fine.

Maybe you could add to your first post in this thread the M2 Competition M Performance Parts which do not fit on the oldskool M2 (CF kidneys, CF splitter, CF engine cover and CF mirror caps) (as you did in post #54).

And the port install is also excellent news for our U.S. forum fellows.

BMW M could be even further ahead of Mercedes and Audi by releasing a hardcore M2 sporting a 450hp power output. The unicorn/uniporn M2.

It is therefore great that via this route I can finally answer them all. Also the carbon engine cover is the same as the one on the M3/M4. We hope as a team at M Performance that you will enjoy the parts available for the car!
If BMW M boss Van Meel and his team (including the M Performance folks) ever heard about us, then hopefully in a positive way.

Thanks for getting us some clarification MR - this really helps.

However, the content of the answers is not what I was hoping to hear:

1), Dealer install of the roof, after they watch some videos on it? No thanks.
2). Dealer painting the hood to make it all body color? No thanks.
3). M performance on the bootlid instead of M2? No thanks again.

This will be an inconsistent shit show, depending on the dealer.

I'm particular like that also but in my experience, if you find the right bodyshop that specialize in custom work; installing and paint matching most of the cosmetic parts is a day job for them, without much risk.

But the roof, hellz to the no!! #CreakingNoise
