Shmarc We have really decent access. I made a lot of plans yesterday, but I cannot share anything yet. Just wait and see what is going to happen.

What do you know, you just described brake packages for certain M cars. Not picking from multiple caliper colors.

Not for any M car.

$100k+ M5 Comp doesn't have caliper colors to choose from...why would then someone think a sub $60k M car should have it? Like I said no other German brands offer it, not on RS Audi's or AMG Merc's. There is brake packages and whatever color they come in.
Excellent. I think you are finally catching on here !

First BMW began offering fashion colors for M sport brakes... (orange yellow and red... vs OEM Blue)

And now.. according to you .. NO M cars come with brake color options, because they all have the same color options which are none because they come in blue.

Except if you order ceramics then you get gold.

Except on the M2 which doesn't offer ceramic.

But then there Is one M car in which you can get either Blue, silver , or red calipers. That's the M2 Competition.

I wonder when a fourth color (gold ) will be available on an M2, as shown on the M2 moto gp safety car.. .

And finally... Since Aftermarket calipers for the M2 Competition are RED.. what color would the same items be if purchased for an M3 or M4? Is there an aftermarket color coming for carbon Ceramic calipers as well...perhaps Pewter...... or would those also revert to RED? I'm trying to sort out the BMW M OEM- M Performance - M Sport Caliper Color wheel.... while you tell me M cars only come with a single color..

So i ask you my friend..... because I believe I have answered your query multiple times... what BMW M car can you get multiple caliper color options on.... ?

And to be honest, the weight savings are not that amazing to see that big of a difference.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see problems with people starting to ask questions when the windshield frame will start to leak or show rust (one of the most prone areas to rust anyway). The anticorosive bath is efficient and works as long as you don’t touch that layer and you don’t expose the metal. Once that is done (as you can see in the video), you have no protection at all. Even the smallest drill is prone to rust even if the water will not go in; the roof is one of the most exposed elements to moisture due to the cabin/exterior temperature differences.

For that money, every element that is not “plug and play” should be installed by the factory.
I am convinced that problems will apear and BMW will pay a hefty price to get this lesson.
I just hope that our voices will be heard...
I don't even care about the weight savings. I love the CF for the way it looks and sets off the contrasting bits (for colors like AW or HS).

The weight savings are just a bonus in my book - but those benefits aren't enough for me to be willing to let an uninformed and unpracticed dealer employee tear the roof off of my car to install one.

I'm hoping that there's an option for factory install by the time I am ready to buy an M2C (early 2020).

This is our aim for the future, and therefore a M2 Competition model was the logical next step in the lineup of the M2.

They all should have it. How hard is it to paint calipers? People would pay to choose like they pay to choose their vehicle color now.

Pop off the calipers and have a local shop powder coat them whatever taste of the rainbow that you want.

Agreed - I would make it all match, which would be worth the price of admission.

The fact that BMW isn't even being consistent for the M2 versus the M performance parts (available in fashion colors) that were offered for other vehicles is... perplexing to say the least.
I'm with you. Correcting another poster claim, the RS3 has optional caliper colors, so does the AMG GT, the Mclaren 570 and I'll go really cheap, you can get different your choice of colors for $600 on a Corvette! BMW M get it together...

In my mind this is like every M2 ships to the dealers with the manual transmission and they bolt on the DCT if so ordered and throw away the parts (or put them in back to by used for very expensive transmission repair, which you can't do with the roof).

If people can be born that way, M2's should be built that way!

btw, just getting the sunroof......

I felt this way with every M Performance part I ever installed... Like how BMW is offering a MP LSD fully built PnP pumpkin for the Non-M vehicles; which meant if you swapped it at the port; a $3,000 brand new rear diff goes strait in the garbage.. Why not offer it factory? #WhatAWaste

The “Competition” nomenclature is part of the new marketing strategy at BMW ///M. It replaces the Competition Package option to become its own model designation as part of the new hierarchy: Base / Competition / CS / CSL. The same has been done to the F90 M5 that is offered as a Base model and Competition model. The quirk with the M2 is that the Base M2 is no longer offered due to the N55 not meeting the new EU emissions standards.

No idea, never opened them in the dark... I would presume not, but I would not be amazed that they light up when it is dark.

The typical mod doesn’t include a structural component of the vehicle, and also isn’t offered by the manufacturer. Since BMW is offering the roof, and they obviously know how to put one on, I would simply rather the factory workers and robots do it. Not some random, unfamiliar with the procedure dude at the dealer.
I dont think it will work like that - if you look at the overhead shot you can see that the CF roof is a removable panel. The strut from the A pillar to the C pillar is a seperate piece. Even the steel roof would be the same - welded at 4 or 6 points around and bonded to the windscreen and the rear window.
All it needs is the headliner fitted to a plastic inner with something like a Christmas clip into certain points on the roof and you have a fully removable roof.
Most dealers (at least here in Australia) would probably send it to their BMW nominated panel shop to spray, install.
Not such a bad thing. IMHO

Thing is BMW could quietly do exactly the same thing at the factory and no-one would be the wiser and everyone would be happy.

Personally, I'm waiting until I see the price list before I order but if the price is right I'll install it.

(problem is that in Oz we have Luxury Car Tax which adds 33% to the price of a new car over approx $66K so price is a big deal. M2 is about $100K before taxes. )

I would never put a fake carbon roof wrap on my car. Talk about poser! This is akin to putting a M logo on a Pontiac.
