I don't mind if the price approaches or even passes what I paid for my F80, or even the CS - that doesn't matter to me at all (I felt the same way about my 981 vs. the 911 at the time as well). The car, if that good, will have a high take rate, even at that price.

I agree partially MSRP on my M4 was $84k and I don't mind paying that much for M2C with full on CF parts. However, not sure if it makes sense anymore if the price goes over $90K+. At that price range, I might consider something like a Corvette GrandSport (with a big fat discount) plus a used fun daily driver. Or... just get an M3 CS for about $10k more

Though I could read more into what was actually said, in an interview last month BMW M boss Frank van Meel seemed to be more suggestive (see here):
  • MR: What is the story/idea behind the M2 Competition?
  • FvM: The main idea behind the M2 Competition is the aim for us as a brand to develop a four-way product line up for BMW M models, the so called; Base, Competition, CS and CSL model hierarchy. This is our aim for the future, and therefore a M2 Competition model was the logical next step in the lineup of the M2.
    [...]
  • MR: Will you follow the same path as with the M3/M4 doing a special limited run before the production ends?
  • FvM: Unfortunately, I cannot comment on any future models, but with our future focus on a four model hierarchy I leave it up to you to decide if you would like to see more M2 derivatives in the future.

2 remove front and rear windows by cutting and buy new one
2bis protect all the rest of interior
3 CUT THE ORIGINAL Roof yes exactly this is crazy. Normally if car take hail is absolutely not suggested to replace roof!
4 now the car is destroyed as start rebuilding!
5 if you buy m4 you save money, you have more power less risk of damage a great car...
This is my opinion guys is absolutely crazy!!
Reposting this video again just to give a rough idea of what's involved:

O M G!

Who in their right mind would subject their car to this destruction?!

They will have a “M2C Perf Ed.” with Mperf parts standard. But as a giant F-you to the whiners on the forums, it is US only and everything is port installed.

The MSRP for the M3CS is around $103K, for that price, I would buy a new M5 for $7K more!

When ordering my M2C could I specifically the red calipers instead at no charge?

They can then order the red kit aftermarket at the dealer and install it at their dealer or specialist.

$98,250 + $550 (San Marino Blue) + $2600 (Exec Package) = $101,400. Also, two dealers offered me minor discounts bringing the final price below $100k including $995 destination and handling.

The factory won't install the red brakes on your car. They can install the optional silver ones (2NH).

If you want the red calipers: skip the 2NH option when you order your car (the car will come with the blue stock brakes) and order the M Performance red brakes. These are the same brakes as the optional silver 2NH, except for the housing color.

or order with, keep the stock rotors and pads, and have an extra set then sell the callipers from 2NH to someone with an N55 m2 wanting to upgrade.

My dealer wrote be today regarding tve cf roof. Not much detail.... as we allready know no factory install. Bit it seems the M2 Competition is kind a built with a possible roof swap in mind. So it should be considerably easy to install the cf roof, no brutal surgery like in the video. Price in switzerland will be around 6‘000 CHF (cf roof plus installation).

The M2 roof is not attached like the E46 and it definitely does NOT need the work done like you see in the video in this topic! I think the guys at IND can confirm this. It is a lot easier than shown in that video. I don't see them removing the complete interior to fit a roof.
Before we all start shouting, shall we first wait and see what the final manual says and perhaps the guys at IND or Evolve can share how much work it is to install a roof.
We are running a bit ahead of the game here I am more than happy to document it and then you are more than willing to start shouting at that moment if it is a good idea or not. For now let's wait how impact-full the change is and what kind of work is needed and at what price
MR
According to the guys at Evolve...

"…the roof was very involved, that took like between 2 and 3 days to fit. That’s whole interior out, glass out… brand new car taken apart to fit a roof. It was quite daunting."

What are you talking about? M3 competition, DCT, executive package and metallic paint is $79k. And if you look at Shmee's video, a new M5 is close to $150k! (Not really sure how that was possible, but maybe that was the German premium. In the US appears easily possible for $110k) Nicely equipped M3 for $80k, with a sunroof (or carbon roof if you want), nice leather, polished carbon for way less money? Not to mention quite a bit faster and quicker? Hmm.
