RS3 is always going to slay in Canada. It's infinitely more all weather capable, comes far better equipped and is much cheaper.
But can you get it with a manual?

I guess that depends on your definition of 'no problem.'
With snow tires my car was a breeze in the winter. I remember seeing an article a few years back where they said an AWD car was slower around a course on snow than the RWD.

I think it's some people here that don't understand that we get a better version of the RS3 here. The RS3 we get in North America with the optional staggered wheels/tires is actually pretty capable. It's handling is improved over the European 5 door. No AWD car is going to handle like a properly set up RWD car but the RS3 is now pretty capable.
Don't forget weird looking reverse staggered RS3. 255 front ant 235 rear.

Anyone notice that ED no longer have amy discount? Or is that normal for Canada market?
Also guys, 9% price increase and BMW give us a real S coded engine, proper sport seats etc. totally a fair price. We all should be glad this product ain't just some midlife cosmetic facelift!

AWD is not a substitute for winter tires, so I'll let you think about that one for a little while. I mean it is ultimate fanboyism to start mentioning rwd is better in winter.

You can't see it anyway. They do it to mitigate understeer (and it works) and it's somehow weird yet every M car or AMG pretty much ever has the opposite to mitigate oversteer, and that's totally fine .

Go check Chris Harris Topgear review of M2 and cheaper but faster RS3 and happiness levels after driving. He was much happier when driving M2

Look at track times on fastest laps.

RS3 is a great car, but with most of the weight in front and transverse engine mount, that's the reason why they put wider tires in front, and the handling is not m2 fun.

here's an explanation and fair review from carlos lagos for the ttrs which is the same chassis.

He also said he preferred the Golf R to the Civic Type R but as a Golf R owner that didn't stop me from putting a deposit on a Civic Type R. I respect his opinion but I don't buy cars for the same reason he does as we don't have those nice windy, smooth British roads here and I don't live at the track.

You should essentially never buy cars based on journalists reviews. Even the god Chris Harris.

C&D picked the RS3 for the top ten list over the TTRS for a few reasons (including better weight distribution and more secure handling), and the TTRS does not have the staggered setup either.

My 2015 981 was ~85K MSRP. Now I didn't pay that much, but there's definitely "something" to the way that Porsche options out their cars that you see on lots....

When I did my 2015 ED there was a Canadian guy there that was receiving his car at the same time. He mentioned that not only did he not get a discount for doing ED, but he had to PAY to do European Delivery. That's is not exactly official but that is what he said to me.

No I say this on experience. Probably way more than you. I've never ever got stuck in any of my RWD Bimmers (5 of them). With good snow tires my car drives like a tractor. I didn't say it was better than AWD either. I just said I read an article where around a course the AWD was at a disadvantage. If I could find it I'd link it.
