Attempt to understand the wheels choice on the basis of the VIN descriptions:
LMR = Leichtmetallräder = leight(weight) metal wheels/alloys | Ge. = geschmiedet = For. = forged | Mt. and Mb = (likely) matte | Schwarz = black.

That begs the question about the difference between codes '2QT' and '29U': does it refer to a difference in matte finish (silver vs. black ?) or to a difference in tires ? Let's see what BMW says about it when announcing the car in a few months. So keep both '2QT' and '29U' under consideration.
MB stands for "Mischbereifung" which means that front and rear have different tyre sizes (MT = mixed tyres?).

I'll say that both wheels are the same, one black, one maybe bi-color.

But for those of you who like silly little wing things hanging off the top of your mirror, I'm guessing you'll want the 2019 car.
My comment was tongue in cheek for that exact reason. I have an F80 and don't really notice the mirrors...although they do look nice when I sneak a peek.

Has it been confirmed from reliable sources that the grille is really going to look like that? Dear God, I hope not. Adding unique design elements to new models is one thing, but literally abandoning the kidney grilles as we've all come to know and love them is branding suicide. I mean look at the poor X2. It wears a Dodge Durango grille (sans horizontal crosshair) instead of a BMW grille and that is the single biggest reason by far that it looks like shit. Then again, it's not a true BMW, but rather a Mini on the UKL platform wearing a BMW badge, so I suppose they can put whatever abomination of a grille on it they want and still sleep at night. However, this new M2 deserves a proper BMW front end and not one from a Kia Optima.

Don't despair.

Should BMW change the M2 kidneys design for the M2 Competition, then it must be for a functional reason: form follows function, extra air for the S55 engine. I guess (as I have not seen the car yet without camouflage) maybe a bit larger/stretched, but still very similar to the current M2 kidneys design.

According to some over here the 'joint' look is just optical, alike on the F90 M5 front end (black middle part between the kidneys host a sensor or front camera). In reality the kidneys will remain separated.

Let's wait and see.

Maybe. I wonder what the explanation is for the abomination that is the new kidney grill “look” of the next gen x5. Jesus Christ it’s hideous

That said I’m excited for this car, ready to learn the real details.

Well, considering the X5 mule is still wearing too much camo to see the full front end design, and based on reports that it will look like the new X3 only larger, I don't think there is too much to worry about. While some feel the kidneys might be too proportionally large on the X3, at least the front end is still undoubtedly recognizable as a BMW. This is important, despite what some of the crack-smoking marketeers and design execs at BMW are thinking right now.

According to the info posted by SCOTT26 the kidney grille will be joined together like the new 8 series but it will be a different shape.

If you look at the black section it aligns perfectly with the lower edge of the headlights and at the top at the bonnet line. So it looks like one piece.
The newer models will now offer a joint kidney grille. Starting with the M2 and the exciting new 8er.

Yikes. How did I miss that pic of the 8er? Must have been added after the initial round of leaked pics. I don't like it. Perhaps it will grow on me after I see it in the flesh, but for now it looks a bit tacky. The throwback to the e30 days seems far fetched and like crazy justification for the designer who came up with it. In M8 GTE guise, it looks amazing because of the massive gaping holes for kidneys and how the vertical split in the kidneys looks like a purposeful air splitter.

I also don't mind the touching kidneys on the X5 because the traditional proportions are still somewhat maintained. It's still recognizable as a BMW by the looks of that latest spy shot. This 8er and apparently the new M2 grille do not do the kidneys the same justice. I do think they might look okay if they are chrome lined with black slats, but all black or all silver is just not looking right to me.

Got a text from someone I know. And that person also received it from friend of a friend that took the pic. I had to blackout part of the picture for safety reason.

Dates aside, did anyone look at the 0-60 MPH times ? 3.6 seconds is GTS type times.

This will be a very impressive car if that is really true. On the M2 chassis and with a manual transmission, even adding 0.2 seconds to that time is very very quick.

Either that or BMW might have mistaken it with some other car.

Hi. Do you have the MP CF DCT gear selector? If so do you have a part number for it?

I understand you can get an MP CF Interior kit but it comprises 3 pieces of which I already have 2 from my M135i (gear surround and handbrake handle).

Dont want to have to buy the whole kit for the sake of the DCT part. I haven't been able to find a p/n anywhere.
