First attempt repairing chips with Dr colorchip
Had a couple chips in my hood from a rogue rock right after I bought my M2. Finally got around to attempting to repair them today.
I think it turned out OK, but the paint was so thin it didn't fill the larger chip. I think I'm going to reapply on a couple days once it's fully cured. It certainly looks better than it did! BEFORE AFTER |

Yea, build it up by reapplying, a few times probably, or as much as necessary to level it out. The edges of your dings look very sharp and might present a problem. One thing you might try, if you have balls, is to wet sand very lightly to get the edges of the dings to be less sharp. But if youve never practiced it, better to just try and cover the edges with the paint. Once its leveled, theyll probably blend in enough to look ok.

I thought about getting one of those sanding pens and trying to smooth the edges a bit. I'm fairly handy so I think I can handle it, I don't think I could do any damage that couldn't be later repaired by a professional if need be for a bit of cash.
But I'll see how it turns out with a few more layers. It already looks better today after a full day to cure. |

I also have LBB with a hood ding and I found the Dr colorchip match to be perfect. Shame on BMW for STILL not providing any LBB touchup kits in the USA.

Hey man, if you're afraid of sanding your car too much. Try using 3M 3000 grit wet sand paper. Soak it w dish soap and water while you're doing the touching up. Once you're done with clear coat, use the sand paper. Let me know if you have any questions. That's a solid first coat.

This car is a damn rock magnet.. Just found another nice chip on the hood.
PPF is starting to look like a necessity rather than a luxury. |

Dr. Color Chip
That looks like a really good match. I used Dr. Color Chip a long time ago with very good results. I'm glad to hear they are still matching colors well.

Better.. Are those edges above the surface of the surrounding paint? Cant tell from the pic if theyre protruding above the paint.. If not, try another coat and see if that covers them without creating paint 'bubble'. If so, try knocking them down.. Some scratch remover or rubbing compound should do it, but go slow. Then repeat the repair.

I saw a pro in youtube. He used the tip of a paper clip and after drying use a very small amount of lacquer thinner to rub off excess paint. Wouldn't that mess up the clear coat?

After several applications the chips I had are barely noticable. Definately worth the price of the kit. |

I'd be careful about sanding the edges with Dr. C. I used it on my carbon black M3 (with light grey primer!) to keep the front bumper looking nice.
What I noticed was that those sharp edges are important for the Dr. C process acting as dams when you do the little wipe with your finger\squeegee move. If they're not sharp there's a good chance you'd wipe too much of the paint out of your repair. Once you get the repair a hair higher than the paint surface, a wipe with that weird solvent will ensure it's smooth and even. It's not a perfect repair and for above the bumper chips I tend to go traditional...but it did a very good job on my bumper where I sometimes had to fix 20 fixes at a clip. I was happier than I expected with the result. Good luck.
