I think the one on this M2 is black, if that's the case was head of a department which is a very high position. Intern one'd say he's G13 the highest level being G15 which is the board of management (their cars don't have stickers because of security reasons).

May he rest in peace, my prayers are with his family.
Wow, he was a BMW employee? I'm sure BMW is a buzz in Germany about this accident.

Just remember that traction control is there for our safety; not all of us are Chris Harris meant to drift around every corner on an empty road. Save that type of hooliganism for the track of a safe open area. I feel the YouTube era makes everyone think they are driving superstars when they are not. This is particularly important when driving a potent car that is new to you...takes time to learn how it behaves!
Yeah, agree with this. I'm only 2.5k in with my M3 and want to explore it some more but as the weather gets worse I'm treating the car with a lot if respect. People look at power figures as just numbers these days and to some 400bhp isn't a lot, but the reality is that on public roads it really is, especially on cold, damp morning's.

RIP

Cold temp, summer tyres and a wet road.
Maybe the worst ingredients for a very fast and not focused drive.

Original article indicated "tried to pass..." Shades of the movie, "John Q Public." Motoring along with power and control until something small changes everything. We have tons of deer around get to keep me humble on public roads... Then again, you see them at tracks, too. Nothing is really safe, ever.

Absolutely horrific... may he Rest In Peace. Not sure if he was in MDM but I sometime find MDM gives inexperienced drivers a false sense of security that will oversteer completely in the wet when provoked.

RIP, our thougts are with his Family!
I know that place very well, was my way to work for years.
The last days over here we had cold and damp nights.
08:00 in the morning streets are still slippy, bad and dangerous
left turn hanging to the right with trees very close to the street
right and some smaller trees and bushes left hand side, just leaving
the city limits right before, alsmost everybody pulls the trigger there.
Very sad to hear, please stay safe everybody!!

RIP.

The deer are mating this time of year. I don't know about his accident but there were more standing in the road yesterday than I've seen in a while.

So sad it bothers me sometimes when I see fellow Bimmers drivers racing through morning or afternoon rush. If you are a good driver, keep in mind people around you are $#!¥ drivers. Play it safe everyone I always recommend it to friends who can afford it, not to use the M as a daily ... RIP M2C driver

Sorry to hear that the car apparently belonged to a BMW manager (likely the unfortunate driver). The accident happened near Munich, home to BMW HQ and BMW M HQ.

The driver was a man of 55 (source: here).

Very sad, RIP... it's a reminder for everyone to be safe out there. It's easy to forget how much power these cars have and want to push it to its limits

Several airbags deployed. The steering wheel airbag didn't. All depends on parameters serving one common goal: offering the best protection for those on board either by deploying or by not-deploying.
For a brief explanation: see for example here ("Reader’s Choice: Why Didn’t the Airbags Deploy?").
The human body has limits in sustaining high G-forces. See for example here ("Force on Driver in Example Car Crash").

The sensor is in the center of the door, it's possible it didn't trigger..

Granted , I do not understand the parameters for airbag deployment.
It's just surprising and sad that they can't develop the technology that offers a more perfect cocoon in the accident cockpit

No matter how much cocoon....speed sometimes overcomes it all...

I highly recommend everyone go to your local BMW CCA HPDE for skidpad training. Learning how to recognize oversteer and understeer and how to immediately correct it could save your life.

They could a better job of protecting a driver. It all comes down to cost, weight and motivation. Volvo has promised a death proof car by 2020 https://money.cnn.com/2016/01/20/lux...020/index.html
