Nothing! We are DRIVERS. And perhaps a bit hooked on adrenaline?

The thing that freaks me out most about that section is a little past the bridge, half way down the hill by the left curb there is a tiny dip you don't even see, but it grabs the steering wheel from your hands and tugs left. Gets me every time, even though I expect it now

Yeah, I'm realizing how nerve wrecking it is to try to go fast around the 'Ring. I had a close call at the slowest corner, just barely missing the guardrail. I'm sitting at 8:18 right now, and my life goal is to be 7:55. But I would settle for being in the 7s. The question is how much I'm willing to risk.

A couple of days ago a friend of mine visited the Nürburgring again after four years. First time with his modded M2. 8 laps. He clocked 7:55 (Bridge to Gantry) (video footage available). He told that he could clock a better the time, but preferred self-restraint in order to drive home afterwards with the car in one piece.

That's why I picked 7:55. I know it's doable, but takes practice and skill. I'm working on both right now Mine is stock except for brake fluid and pads. I'm still on 3 year old OE MPSS tires. I will get some better rubber soon and keep doing laps. This was my second day there, and I shaved full 20s off my best lap time from last year. I need more experience and practice.

If you have a link to the footage that would be great. I'd love to see what a more experienced driver does better than me and learn.

1:46 to 2:52 ish in the video. Schwedenkreuz into Fox Hole. Sorry for long video. Don’t want to re edit and re upload

Thanks for the visual aid,

So that whole section after the rise in elevation/right turn is considered the fox hole?

If you look at the black and white picture Artemis posted on the first page, the Bridge after Aremberg on the map is 2:13 in my video. Aremberg is the sharp right-hander with all the sand. From there, through the esses, through the compression, up the hill and into the left-hand turn with usable curbing is Fox Hole section. Ends at 2.32 in the video. Then the next right-left-right are Adenauer Forest.

Sorry for the confusion in my original post. I was counting Adenauer forest when I stated the initial time.

And 02:28 of your video (with the curbs on the left) is the low bump point where very fast downhill (200+ km/h) changes to uphill, en route towards the Adenauer Forst section.

This Porsche (entering the Fox Hole @ 01:12) passes the low bump point at 330 km/h @ 01:21:

That’s mighty impressive for second day, stock car, and old tires!

Thank you sir. I know if I swapped seats with a better driver who knows the track very well, they could do 7:4x in my car. So more driver mod in needed. Perpetually.

I have been a passenger in a modded M2 doing around 7:40-45 bridge to gantry. The compression at the bottom of foxhole is brutal. The driver does 7:25 in that car without passengers. But takes it a bit safe and easy with passengers.

Did it in my own car (albeit much slower laptimes), 205kph down the hill. Really challenges suspension, brakes and the balance of the car coming into those turns!!

Foxhole looks so nondescript on a drawn map. Even vid don't do it justice.

First time I drove there, just insane. This is one of the defacto "Have to be seen with your own eyes" examples.

The compression is sick.

I'm quite familiar with the track, sort of surprised it was *There* but I hope this is a lesson to most about the big flop that the 2 series in its current form is as a chassis.

Short wheel base and high torque mixed with its absurd weight means you have big moments of low traction as you transition from front to back. Apply that torque to early and you will quickly learn.

The old V8/V10 from before the turbo days is simply a better platform with the smooth growth of the torque from the anemic low RPMs.

anyway. I meant to say that the M2 is squirrely from its fundamental design, and the M3/4 is simply better.

Not blaming or shaming the driver. These things are inevitable with track driving, just sort of annoyed that BMW didn't give the M2 the focus it deserved and it's a sloppy drive, (which can be fun I suppose but not fun on the ring or a real track). The first badge car imo. The history M, this M2 is especially bad but few understand it enough to see that.

I think I know whose it is. I started following a local tuning shop which just so happens to be posting a lot in last few days about going to NS with their new M2 CS which looked exactly like this and had swapped brakes. I'm thinking it's theirs. They say they go to NS often - it's like their second home.
No more mention of the m2 Cs on their IG. I started following them like 4 days back - what a coincidence honestly
EDIT: they said it was their friends car that they worked on. I remember something about unlimited brake kit and maybe even ohlins. Bloody shame

Seems to me if you race your car around a track you assume the risk.
