So here's the €100K+ question: with what you know now, do you think that the M2 CS is worth its price ? Otherwise stated, if you still had your 2016 M2 and would consider upgrading to another M2: would you upgrade to an M2 CS or would you go for an M2C and keep the change to spend on mods and fuel ?

This is the 1,000,000 USD question, and answering it now without having driven the car is a really difficult one. Personally, I think 100K+ is too much for what it is. I would opt for a Cayman or Boxster variant with the 4.0 litre engine in it.

Still I needed the practicality of the car then I would not see any reason not to go for the CS if I got a good price. I was offered 11% OFF and I would get it ex VAT, which would be around 85K EUR. That is still quite high and 20K more than my M2C, and I would need to do the exhaust still and some little minors thing here and there.

I think the typing point for me would be if the car would be around 70-75K netto, which 90K EUR including 21% VAT. It will be a super second hand option along the line.

1. I'm very surprised new carbon roof saves a significant 10+kg. Thought it's some 10lbs.

2. Question: are they saying the CS exhaust only differ in mid pipe and tailpipe with no difference in muffler?

BTW, Is it just me or from the picture with no direct sun cast, standing next to each other, the gold 763M works better than the black?
Sean, the stock roof is 14,4 kg. Edison Composites and Alpha-N's roof is 4,5 KG. This M2 CS roof is a touch lighter at roughly 4,0 kg.

Yes, that is what they were saying!
MR. thank you for your replying!

Well...you failed to comment on my point 3...how do you like the blue-on-gold aka "clown spec" in the real world? Cannot say dislike enough until seeing your picture.

In the end, I didn't hear anything regarding the allocations for the Asian markets, we feel being left out.

In that pic as in several others I find the gold so mild that it's tolerable. I'm no fan of black wheels especially gloss black so I'm in the gold wheel camp and that pic gives me some comfort that it will be OK.

Question: How is the power in the M2 CS compared to the M2 Competition? Is the CS noticeable faster?

Thanks for this, MR.

Please get part number of the front plastic splitter and the aluminium hood on the CS Racing if you can.

I don't have access to the Motorsport price list. Check with your dealer if they have it for you.

According to BMW, only after 4K rpm when the extra 40 hp kicks in.

The gold wheels are fine and with the blue body work they aren't too bad, but you have to opt the ceramics and not have the red calipers. That is ultimate clown spec. I told them; "Who in the marketing department came up with that idea?" They laughed and said "uhhh". Interesting not one car on site had the red calipers and only one had gold wheels.

Also I think black with gold wheels would have been stunning as a combo people would have loved. Also a red body color with red calipers and gold wheels would have been great. For a white car I would choose black wheels and gold calipers as the best option. The HS car is nice, but also there black wheels and gold calipers, but here I would paint the calipers black for a better look.

For me there is not one hero spec. I personally hate black Bimmers, although with the new M3 and M4 it is the only color you are allowed to choose to deal with that grille. White is cool, but I had it before. HS is the M2C color, and Misano Blue belongs in front of an elderly house where grand parents park their X1 or X2. The CS lacks a true M color that is unique to the car, and I think that is a bit of a disgrace. It should have had a red (even though there were against it) or an Orange, like Valencia Orange or Orange Inka 22 which my car will be painted in.

I would like to see M heritage in the products and the CS in blue is just a bit meh. I once had the new M135i xDrive for a week and parked it in a parking lot in the center of Prague. In less than 25 steps from the car there were two X1's and a X2 in the same Misano Blue. If that M135i was my own blue M2 CS, my BMW heart would have jumped a few beats.

Look at it irl. The gold is very pale/white...
Prefer the black ones and chose them in my configuration.

I want to know if the spun crank hub issue is from vibrations and the bolt backing out or from not enough friction when there is a lot of torque applied to hub?

Awesome info thanks as ever Marc

Re the bonnet scoop, just to check that for cold air intake and not hot air extraction. Maybe I need to look at pictures closer, always thought it was angling a little back at the windscreen.

Also there is hardly any bulge on the bonnet. The Edison Composites bonnet must be a lot more efficient, since it uses the M4 GTS shape for the vents.
MR
Hopefully no adverse side effects because of the flat design, such as for example 'Helmholtz resonance': air resonance in a cavity, such as when one blows across the top of an empty bottle. Needless to say that massive amounts of air pass over it.

Recent redesign works to The Golden Gate Bridge: it's humming/wheezing now !

@MR. The questions that couldn't be answered in your QA; Are they things that will be answered later, or are they things that BMW are keeping to themselves?

I do wonder if it's a slightly different finish than the "frozen gold" found with the M performance 763M.
