I did 8:18 yesterday. Saved 20s from last year with the same exact setup. Trying to get into the 7's in my goal, but it will be tough. P.S. How is the car with the new suspension/tire setup??

As it was my first and only time there (except virtual sessions) - and I only had 8 laps - I took it pretty easy and did some tourist sessions. I rented a FWD Trophy RS and it was MORE than enough car for me for the first time. I was beyond super hyped on the first two laps and took the girlfriend out - I went, pretty slow but I was super aware of traffic and stayed to the right. Fortunately, it was perfect conditions and very light traffic. If I remember correctly, I did half of my laps and then came in and then a shunt closed the track. I then went back out and there was more traffic but I had more confidence in the car and my ability so I started picking up pace. I'm sure I was still slow. As for my car, as a lot changed and the tires are still brand new and greasy, I didn't really push it. I honestly expected a heavier steering feeling with the wider tires up front - extra 60mm - but I didn't get that sensation. The car absolutely needs more front camber - it feels way more connected and more responsive to turn-in. I really need to go back to the track and see how it feels. |

When I took a 3 year assignment here, being able to drive to the 'Ring, and Spa, and Hockenheimring was one of my big big stipulation. Chance of a lifetime for a track junkie. So I'm trying to make the best of it, while balancing work and family. I decided early on Turistenfahren was out. Too much variables and too much of an uncontrolled environment. Unprepared cars and drivers, since it becomes a public road. Delivery vans and bikes, and prepper race cars all at once, on 14 miles and 77 corners of the most treacherous track in the world. No wonder very weekend there is a new crash video. I opted to go for the club days, which is a lot more expensive. 850 Euro per day. It blew my mind at first, but you get a lot more track time, and a lot less crowd. I realized that that the high price is for having the track a lot more to yourself. No vans, no family wagons, no motorcycles. Just you and 100 similarly prepped cars and similarly minded drivers. It's expensive AF, but in my mind worth it. But still, every one I attended still had clousure periods for crashes. Yesterday I watched a guy wreck a McLaren 720s on the back straightway by the on/offtrack paddock. He walked away, but I looke up just in time to see bits of his car fly all over the place. This place is nuts. Soooo hard to drive fast. Too dangerous for F1, but us rookies can go all out. Crazy if you think of it this way! I have another year to reach my life goal of sub 7 minute lap. And I'm 18 seconds away at this point. I can pick up 8-10s with new sticker rubber as I still have the seasoned OE Michelin PSS on, but the remainder is on me. My skills and my nerves. This is what makes this place soooo addicting.

Well maybe. Took the 437 rims in for a black gloss powder coat and what a result. Couldn't be happier. Added black valve stems from TPMS and fresh Pilot Sport 4s'ers.
Dinan CF mirror caps M CF difuser Full dry CF trim ensemble inside Full M metal pedal kit Black out trim Red starter Hood insulation add for less noise- this is a DD not a track toy Bimmercoded AF Ceramic tinted AF What else, what else. Hmmmm. |

They do make a huge difference though... I've considered getting a second set for the stock wheels. I think they'd look better than the silver ones that come on the 437s. |

Tell me Mark. Can you see the protection from the front? Is it obvious? How easy is it to peel off?

TPMSdotcom I have VDO sensors and these fit those. If you have Huf or Beru sensors you will need to go to Bimmerworld and pick up Apex valve stems. You have to remove the wheel and swap them for the ones in the sensor, then rebalance the wheel. I had Discount Tire do all 4 for $150 including the rim swapout (free balancing since I had purchased the tires there).

I do have a bit of a hard time in that section, because there isn't as much straight line grip as I expect. ABS kicks in around 0.6g where in other areas it's closer to 0.8g. It also doesn't help that the Kallenhard group of curves right before are super sticky, and gives me an impression I can carry more speed. Then I come into Wahrseifen and I'm like So lesson learned is brake early, turn in, brake again before the main curve.

Well technically yesterday not today, but FINALLY washed the M2 after the move to the new place. Too lazy to do tires, sorry. Now I have access to my own garage, hose, and a drive way that fits a second car. Garage still too full of boxes though to get a car in for the moment. Thinking about a quick jack maybe for the garage.
Neighborhood feral cat came over to check out the garage and ask me to play with him while I was drying the car. |

Congratulations on your new place and be nice to the kitty 🐱
Not exactly a quick-jack lift but may I suggest two of these electric jacks.. They work pretty well and doesn't pick up a lot of space in my garage.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203019088923 |

Can one jack safely lift one half side of the car, e.g., left front and rear wheels for tire removal? Or is it safest and intended for lifting one wheel at a time? ///AVM |
