M2 to M2C - Experiences/regrets

Hi all,

I am contemplating upgrading from an OG M2 to an M2C and was looking for people's experiences, regrets etc. I am quite keen to make the move but equally have a feeling in my stomach I may regret it. I guess my biggest fear is sound. I currently have an M Performance exhaust for reference.

Thoughts appreciated.

Thanks

If sound is your biggest fear, just take a look at the new equalized length midpipe, made by activeautowerks. The S55 now sounds like it proper M.

Unfortunately I live in the UK, governed by EU regulation, which equates to OPF, which equates to axle-back only... unless I want to risk it insurance etc (which I don't) 👎

Can't you just declare the exhaust on the insurance? or do they have no tampering with emissions equipment clauses now? (been 10 years since I lived in the UK).

The reality is, tampering with OPF equipment equates to your car not being road legal as by law modifying any emissions regulation equipment that is installed from factory is illegal.

If your can isn't considered road legal, insurance won't cover you. That aside, if you were to be involved in an accident (especially a serious one involving a fatality), if you were found to have tampered with emissions equipment you're pretty much screwed.
