Who details their engine?

I wipe down my engine after every wash. It's about time to do a thorough cleaning though. What is your wash process? What products do you use?

Does the engine cover simply pop off?

Yes, pull up front first, then rear. Held by pressure points.

I wipe it down after every wash as well - that's all you need to do - don't go nuts taking stuff off etc.

Just my opinion.

I would agree don't take off the covers as they do prevent water from getting in.

Some APC and brushes will help you do the job, followed by an engine dressing.

Nextzett W99 and a Kwazar Mercury Pro Sprayer

Once the engine is completely dry you can hit it with

Adam's In and Out Spray

All the above...and I once rinsed and ligggggghttttly soaped, use a tight cotton glove to wash around and under piping, hoses, and hard to reach. Then spray rinse, dry and start up. BUT I also cover the electrical alternator up front...just because. FWITW, I don't clean every wash, but I don't use a high pressure hose to do it either. Lightly done...does it all.

"Who details their engine?"
1. People who - for whatever reason - feel the need to have their hood up in public places. Hopefully they don't feel the same way about the zip on their trousers.
2. People looking to hit on their mechanics. It's like emailing dick-pics on Grinder - apparently...

Have you considered fitting some carbon fibre posing pouches in there for maximum effect?
