LA area canyon runs?

I couldn't find a post so thought I'd make the move. For those who are interested to cruises in twisty canyon roads around LA/valley area, post a reply and let's put to use what these M2's were intended to do !

I'm waiting for the break-in service to be done (still 1K miles away!) but would do canyon runs when my car is ready! I need to find an excuse to rack up those miles...

There's an Instagram account called socal_bmw_la that hosts meets and runs. I might check them out one of these days.

Rack up those miles with a proper canyon run

On a serious note it's probably beneficial for an easy cruise in the mountains so the RPM fluctuates more frequently.

They seem a bit further than LA/valley area but I'll go to some, always down for any meet. Followed page, thanks!

I know I could do that but it would be so frustrating to shift right at 4K RPM. That’s where all the fun begins with the S55!

Oh very true, I feel ya. It was hard enough keeping it under 100mph let alone under 4k haha

I’ll DM you or post back here once I’m done with my break in. I’m located in the SGV area.

I'm down for this some time. I'm in Orange County, so Ortega is usually more convenient for me, but I'm always down to hit GRM.

I watched a recent Smoking Tire canyon run at a spot near me. There was a shot for the sign at Big Tujunga Dam Overlook. I plan on running this frequently for my break in service. I'll keep it tame but I want to get used to it.

Sucks you're little further but after looking in that area I'm actually interested to make my way down there sometime too or even spend a weekend at laguna/dana point. The roads look like they have potential.

What's GRM if you don't mind me asking?

When you come up to the valley hit up this thread!

Looks like both our creep game is solid because that's how I found out about that spot too lol. The roads on Big Tujunga isn't as smooth as Angeles Crest but it gets better as you go. Matt sometimes goes higher up, through a tunnel, towards Upper Big Tujunga Canyon. Wonder how many M's it takes to go through that tunnel to cause a landslide lol.

How many miles you got left to go?

Haha I guess I can't resist a canyon run, I'll come along but will just try to keep the revs down. Don't think the tires are fully broken in yet either so will be taking corners pretty lightly. I am free this coming weekend, either 15th or 16th.

Mine is still on a boat in the Atlantic, due into Long Beach May 26 haha. So I expect I will see it in early June.

There's an event this Saturday it looks kinda sick. It's a cruise to a missile park! How awesome does that sound lol

Found out from IG @urbxncanvxs

I was thinking we can go to this event and then cruise back home through the mountains with our small group if anyone's down?

I'm down for this. I was planning to do my own cruise this Saturday morning taking pretty much this exact same route, so it'd be great to go with a group of BMWs as well.

I run the Malibu canyons all the time. Weekends have been a bust lately. Recently I've been running weeknight an hour before dark

Beautiful roads but very true, its swarmed with Subaru station wagon hikers and the roads cancer, cyclists. Naturally, that comes with more Karens, more complaints, therefore more police activity. I've stopped going in that area for those reasons during the day. First ticket in the M2 was actually in Malibu canyons haha and even the cop was forced to give me a ticket for something as stupid as a front plate because all people do is complain. Good officer though, he could've written me for a lot more lol.

I'm definitely down for an afternoon run or even super early in the morning before it gets crowded, I miss those roads too much.

Are the roads really that packed around there? I just moved to SoCal about half a year ago so not super familiar with the area. If so then tomorrow will truly just be a light cruise haha
