I'm going to file this away. This seems like a very worthwhile low cost modification.

Lol, I always surf around for mods and a way to blow money.

Hope this solves the problem.

I had the occasional wheel hop on mine too. Good news is I solved the problem, and the solution was actually a very easy fix. Steps below:

I sold the car.

Good discussion here: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1565225&page=2

I get wheel hop on my ‘20 M2C w/ MPSS, very noticeable in the rain and only in a straight line. Tires are at rec’d pressures, but may play around with it. Increasing a couple psi might help.

I experienced the wheel hop with my 2016 m3 on Contis.

Switched to PS4S and never experienced it again even after tuning to stage 1.

PSS on the M2c and no wheel hop either.

Also experiencing wheel hop in slushy snow covered pavement when having wheel spin, car has Michelin Xi3 winter tires. Anything to worry about?

You're just going to have to let out of it as soon as you get the hop.

Because wheel hop is bad for the car? That's my understanding from reading the thread. The weird thing is it seems to only happen to the passenger rear wheel.

Yeah, it's terrible on the drivetrain. The passenger side is the one that slips first, IIRC.

Noting that the Motorsports versions of the F8X and the M235 all appear to use a single differential mount of the same type as the road cars, has anyone considered throttle modulation as a way forward?

Nah, we'd rather let it hop till it breaks and let BMW fix it

I just started noticing some wheel hop in my 2020 (new) in the rain. 8200 miles on original PSS. MDM and full DSC off. Could just be a right foot problem though. Need to test further...

Not possible that I see, you have to let out, then get back in it, and hope it doesn't start hopping again. Unless you're calling that modulation.

My car has stopped hopping, and I'm quite glad about it.

Also, with my Winter set on, every time I leave the car wash, yeah, it's pure bliss.

My e90 m3 with the same tires exhibits little to no wheel hop. Tires spin a lot easier on that car. M2 let's go much easier but more predictable around a corner.

I don't think I've ever experienced wheel hop. Is this something you'd only experience with DSC completely off? I ask because 99% of the time I stay in sport+ with Euro M4GTS MDM enabled. Would traction control prevent this?

Yeah, it's with TC off so the tires can spin freely.
