Driver's Side Front Wheel Running 10° Hotter

Gents,

After my TPMS required a reset I noticed my driver's side front wheel runs on average 8-10° hotter than the rest of them.

A quick google search has revealed a few reasons for this, but has anyone else experienced this?

My '21 M2C only has 7.5k miles on it.

Yes. Same for the OGs. Aux heat exchanger is on that side and the heat from it explains the delta.

That's probably normal but I swear my front passenger side is always warmer.

on the s55 there are heat exchangers on both side. On the n55 the aux radiator is on the driver side and the oil cooler is on the passenger side. Technically you should see higher temps behind the oil cooler when it is fully open and flowing oil, because oil is always running hotter than coolant, and because the aux radiator has no pump to flow fluid through it so flow is generally quite slow.

Yeah I thought about that after hitting submit but iirc the pass side heat exchanger is for the IC on the S55 which I would expect to run cooler. I monitor temps daily and see the same phenomenon on mine on the street in my OG.

Yeah what I said doesn't apply to the s55, only the n55.

Not sure why this phenomenon exists, but it does. Corner weighting doesn't really explain much either especially just for street use:

Passenger side front is heavier as expected since there are 2 heavy turbos and down pipes on that side.

OG is a bit different with the weight bias being on the driver side front:

Is there a temperature delta that you would be concerned with? My assumption would be if a wheel is out of alignment that tire would have more friction/more temperature. Would a mild out of alignment wheel cause enough heat to really show up.

No. If your alignment was that far off to increase heat in the tire, he wouldn’t be able to drive the car.

This is one of those cases where, too much information is too much information. Just pretend the temperature of the tires doesn’t exist and you won’t worry about it.

If it were me, I’d bring a laser thermometer with you on a drive and see what the brake temps are at after warm-up and maybe spirited driving. Might be a pad not retracting?

Same as OP on my car - around 10 degrees higher on the front drivers side wheel - more pronounced on my winter tires than the summers.

It bothers me too, since I dont understand why, but wear in that corner hasn’t been any better/worse than the other 3, so idk.

This is normal, and there have been threads on it in the past. There is a radiator vent in that wheel well if memory serves. My car has exhibited this since new when stock and also after suspension/camber mods.
