I have 70/140 (which I'm very happy with) swifts and was told any lower I would need a revalve which can be quite expensive. I would really suggest the 70/140 as a start and you can always go lower and revalve if you decide it's too stiff. I am in the 10-13 click range these days even on rough roads and very happy with the ride.

Now equipped with 60/120, and all I can say is, WOW!
Feels way less "toppy" but still very connected. The DFV valve keeps everything in check; re-valve was not necessary. Very happy with this mod, suits me well. Great with the 513m wheels, previously the 513m with 90/190 made everything quite bouncy at 20 clicks. Underdamped. M2 Csl (Coupe, Sport, Lounge) is now in the works! |

Is a shorter spring required in the front to run wider wheels? I ordered a set of ProTrack Ones @ 18x10 ET 20 in the front and I'm concerned that Ohlins front spring length may interfere (?)
Anyone have experience running a similar wheel setup? |

Shorter springs are not required. There really isn't much room to go to a shorter spring anyway. The factory spring length has very few threads showing after pre-load is adjusted. 10 et20 will be close to the spring but may not need a spacer depending on the tire size/brand. What camber do you plan to run? If you are running in the -3 or more range you can add spacer without fender clearance issues. I run about -3.5 camber with Ohlins R&T (standard springs) and a 10.5 front with 275 hoosiers.

I'm picking up a set of MR40 coilovers. Since the MR40 rear valving appears to not be suitable for anything softer, I'm thinking of just changing out the front springs only, to 70 n/mm Swift springs as Brian from Ohlins suggests 70/190.
Would that seem to be ok or should I also change the rears?

I'm another very happy with 78/160Nm. I do a bit of spirited driving on average/undulating twisty country roads, for me I think the stiffness of 190 rears would cause traction issues.

For my own opinion—I've been running a set of R&Ts on... track and road (a bit backward), and find them excellent for road use and the occasional track usage. On track, my personal feel is they're too softly sprung. The nice bit is either through just their damping characteristics or the DFV, they handle bumps and curbing quite well. I'm pretty sure I have the higher-rate rear spring and am running a 550lb front spring from Swift—a small increase from the standard front spring. If I only drove them on the road, I'd probably reduce the spring rate and have the rears revalved. |

There were some people complaining about noise and had to replace some bushings i think. Are all these issues resolved now?

I haven't had any issues. I have about 12k miles on them and pretty much no complaints. Around town at slow speeds it gets unsettled on bad roads but it's a lowered m2 on coilovers. The swaybars caused some of that before the coilovers were on.

Nice thread to read. I have R&T on mine with 90/190 springs. When the road is perfectly flat its so nice to drive, but in UK the roads are terrible, contant bumps, dips, undulations. I tried softening it up but you get a horrible bounce over undulations, if i stiffen it up then i loose that bounce but the ride in general is very firm.
So it sounds like you guys have resolved this by going 70/140 or 80/160. Is 90 classed as too firm on the front, is it both front and rear that are too stiff? I did think of dropping the spring rate down to 160 on the rear. I am going to try my buddies M2C with M Performance coilovers tonight so it will be interesting to see what they are like. I want to track my car 4 times a year but prefer the compromise on the track not the road. Cheers. |

Hi, I have switched to M Performance coilovers now. There rough road ride quality is fantastic, its nice than my Macan which has PASM. I have stiffened them up a bit so will see tomorrow how it feels a bit stiffer. Ohlins for me was just too stiff, on good roads it did feel mega though.
