Wow, $60k from insurance is really good considering where the market is at! No brainer to total it.
If you're looking to replace it with another one, let me know. I'm putting mine up for sale for quite a bit less than that.

yeah, I'd take the 60k no question. You can get a comparable car for under 53k at this point, if you wanted to stay with the platform. Good luck to you with whatever you do next.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
It looks like a relatively straight forward repair, cost of parts is the worst part, but this could be a bargain for someone. There are 2 You Tube channels I can think of who have repaired M2Cs looking much worse than this one. |

I'm curious what insurance company you are with? If you don't want to post it, would you PM me. That seems likr both a fair offer, and a no-hassle process to get there. Hoping I'm neer in that spot with mine, but the last accident repair I had to deal with was a nightmare of lowball estimates, then wait for body shop to prove it needed more, then cheap aftermarket parts, wait for body shop to prove they didn't fit, etc etc. Would like to know who treats their customers fairly like this. |

Believe it or not it is GEICO, I was shocked too. I just got super lucky to get a really understanding adjuster. He had previously driven a 1M and owned a Mazdaspeed 3. No idea how they arrive at the exact value or if the fact that the other party will be at fault is part of that but it is for sure a good offer.

I really don't know what I'm going to do yet. I'm gonna go back to my old Mazda 3 beater for a while and think about it. I'll probably check out a G87 or a Cayman. I'm not against getting another used F87 but I think I'll take some time to decide.

I'm with you the CS is too expensive you get 2% more performance for 35% price hike not worth it.

Oh shit Chris, so sorry to see this! I suppose I missed Bimmerpost for a week. Man, as hard is it would be to part with the F87, its the right thing to walk away.
Honestly, this forces you to look at the G87 (I havent driven it and the rear end is still repulsive to me) which I'm sure is a great car. I have also test driven a Cayman GTS 4.0 and its a fabulous car (but for almost double the money). I dont think you'll go wrong with either one. On to the next in good health! If you have change to spare, I think you've gotta move up to the GTS 4.0 Last edited by BigKutta; 02-23-2024 at 12:31 PM.. |

For sure if I don’t get another F87 one of then things I will miss the most is the quality of the info and people on this section of the forum. The G8x forums just aren’t of the same level. Glad someone has gotten some useful info from me between being prickly 😅. I’m still compulsively checking the forums here and probably will for a while lol.

I miss my car a lot. I had sold my F80 CS a week before the accident, so I’ve just been driving my comfortable but boring Audi Q5. I’ve had to rent arrive-and-drive cars for multiple track events. March 1 I’ll be driving a well-prepped, caged E36 build, but I’ll miss the M2C yet again. Drove the A90 Supra (w/ZF8 box) at an event, which was pretty enjoyable and very capable, but left me pining for my M2C. Good luck with the repairs! Be discerning and find a good shop. Don’t farm out the entire process to your insurance! |
