There are all kinds of factors, and if no PPF works for you, then I'd say that's a great thing. Mine cost $2300 installed, so saving $2300 is definitely preferred.

However, my car is a daily, and even though my commute is only 8 miles and 12 minutes, I do get above 60/70 mph every day, and do drive in Winter, so it was necessary for me. Our roads aren't bad, but the bugs in the Summer are, so for that reason alone every car around here has chips all over the front. Well, every car that isn't PPF'd.

Mine is my daily driver. I have never PPFed a car. I have had some rock chips in the past but touch up paint has always fixed it. Haven’t had to do anything to my M2 yet. (Figured crossed. Hope I don’t jink myself).

It's absolutely the speed/traffic/type of traffic that causes the damage. I don't consider my commute particularly congested, but maybe there is more construction type of traffic dropping rocks/sand/etc. I decided not to PPF my previous purchase because I didn't plan to keep it long, and it was black, so any touch-up would be pretty invisible. I traded the car after 9 months of ownership, and it looked fantastic from 5 feet away, but there were so many small nicks and chips, I was amazed.

There are negatives to PPF and some people just don't like it.

That said, I have the XPEL Ultimate PPF kit on my front bumper, because I think the positives outweigh the negatives for that piece.

Stop tailgating. It won't stop big stuff hitting your car (which PPF won't help with anyway, with the possible exception of roadkill), but will prevent pebbledash.

Theres a couple of factors to keep in mind about ppf

1) colour of your car -- If yours is white or light colour you wont notice chips or dirt as much as you will with a dark or bsm colour car.

2) type of driving you will be doing -- if you mainly use your m2 to putt putt around town , or drive close to work as a daily , you wont be getting alot of chips if you driving city speed limit

If you however will be on the hwy or do spirited driving with your car, you WILL get rock chips no question

For me even if i drove under the limit all the time, i would still ppf. It takes out alot of anxiety if you will going on a road trip somewhere.

Also it makes clesning the car easier, especially if you add a ceramic coat.

Regardless of pff or not, this right here is most important. I have 2-3 tiny chips all from driving on the highway at high speeds and close up behind cars. Leave enough distance and you'll likely be ok

No one can, which is why any installer worth their salt these days hides them very well, and wraps all the edges.

Another big complaint that has long since been addressed by aftermarket films. Not sure why OEM can't get with the program.

I missed my opportunity to do ppf so I’m going to respray the front bumper when it comes time.

Didn’t realize how important it was to keep a daily mint. Live and learn. 15k miles in and my BSM has a couple teeny tiny chips in the hood and some pitting on the lower portions of the bumper, just above my carbon lip.

I may still get the carbon lip PPFd since it’s stupid expensive to get a TRE lip into the US.

I have it on the front. I like it because it really makes it easy cleaning off the bugs and other stuff. I got it done after picking my M2 up at the performance center in SC.

When I got mine ppf, I had the guy remove the factory ppf and put on a bigger piece on the rear fenders

But a ceramic coat is a must imo
